My first Acura

My first Acura
I sold my '01 Dodge Ram last week and decided to go for a '10 Acura TL I'd had my eye on. I've never had any kind of "luxury" vehicle and I have to say the experience so far has been a pleasure. Especially coming from a noisy, creaky, rough riding, gas guzzling pickup.
I look forward to driving it every day. It's just a base model but it's far better than anything I've ever owned in the past.

Welcome! Any plans on modifying the car?

I did something similar to you, OP - I went from an '03 Tundra to a '14 TL. It is a shock to the system, going from a truck to a nice car, but it's a nice shock. lol
Anyway, I've found this to be a wonderful forum for Acura owners. I wish I had found this forum before I bought the car. But, probably wouldn't have been searching for it, unless it was really important to me. And, after I bought the car...
Congrats on the new (to you) car!

I recommend driving it for a little while, and figure out some things that you think could be improved! Maybe a little more power, or sound, or sportier ride. Check out what other people have done in the the performance and wheel/tire sections too. You can always PM me if you have any questions!

Acura makes a great quality automobile. My 87 Legend Coupe was 18 years old and 200k+ miles and it still ran like new; my daughter totaled it in an accident. She didn't get a scratch. Everything on the car was original and no major component ever failed. I've recently bought a 2012 TL with the Tech package. I'm loving it.
The best advice I can give is to always change the fluids on schedule. The brake fluid and transmission fluid are especially critical for maximum lifespan. I would immediately flush the transmission and replace the filter unless you have proof that it was done in the last 36K miles. Always use original Acura brake parts and evacuate the brake fluid by sucking it out of the reservoir.

I had an 18 year old 92 Legend Coupe, not as many miles as yours, but same experience. Only thing I changed were tires, timing belt/water pump. Still had original clutch, exhaust, etc. They were brilliant cars and way ahead of their time.
OP, congrats on the purchase and welcome to A'zine.

One of the things that drew me to this particular car was the fact that even though it's a '10 it only had 30k on the clock. Looking forward to adding many more.
One of the big adjustments I've had to make is keeping my foot out of it. I've never had a car this fast before. This car really wants to go!

Congratulations with the new to you TL @Bazookaman. I own two TL's ('12 & '13). Both are wonderful vehicles with very little maintenance, I'm hopeful you have the same type of experience I have had. Nice score picking up a low mileage car at that, however it is going to be hard helping your buddy's move now that your truck is gone! For that same reason I keep my '99 Silverado around and of course the normal hauling of random things.
Keep your transmission oil fresh, keep some premium synthetic oil in the motor and have fun driving it for many many miles.
