MPG for my 2012 AWD TL

Just took a long trip (330 miles) with the AWD TL I purchased back in March. I was suprised when I filled it up after the trip and did the calculation. 30 MPG for the whole trip!!! It's mostly highway driving but I did hit the red line 4-5 time to pass two Prius.... and some other slow car on the way. But 30 MPG. Haven't had the first oil change yet. I hope it gets better. I doubt it tho. Loving this car!!!

Mpg

I was driving 55-62. There were a lot of uphill and downhill driving so that might make some differences. HWY 101 from Shelton WA to Seaside OR was fun to drive

I've seen over 30 over about a 40 mile run across town on the freeway, but overall I consider the mileage to be so-so on the car. My wife averages in the 18's in strictly city driving.

Have a FWD, bought 10 days ago. On the fwy I'm definitely seeing some great 30+mpg but city driving, especially in Los Angeles, is brutal on the mileage. Like 15-18mpg and I don't have a lead foot and I don't accelerate quickly.

Same here and when gas prices spikes again, I am buying something that has 4cylinders and doesn't require premium gas. Any suggestions?

Oh and an interesting thing. I'm getting noticeably less mpg on my second tank using Costco premium gas than I did from the initial tank from the dealer. I'm tempted to ask them what brand they used. Granted I know mileage on your first few tanks is highly variable...

I have a TSX, engine is smooth and peppy but it sounds like a 4 cylinder (although premium fuel IS recommended--I've used mid-grade and haven't noticed any differences)

I have a feeling when the TLX is introduced its base engine may very well be a 4-banger. Hope they can change the engine sound though.

i just filled up my gas and did calculation and i got 16 MPG which is so low.
I just bought the car 3 weeks ago and 1000 mi on it. Is MPG going to get better as the engine gets more mileage on it?

I am in LA so the traffic is the main reason i guess.

same bro...I finally able to average out 20 mpg on my car after second tank. I am fortune enough to against traffic daily but the up/down hill around my work kill the result. The AWD has completely change my driving habit and I didn't floor the gas anymore at traffic light.

Check other threads. I've seen better numbers than these. I have averaged 23 combined city and highway since I got the car in October.

By the way, is going through the hassle and costs associated with getting a new car that doesn't require premium worth saving $3 on a fill at the pump? If you do the math, probably not.

I'm now on my third tank, Mobil this time, and I seem to be getting better mileage [23mpg] than I did with Costco [20mpg] but not quite at the numbers I got with the initial Shell fillip [26mpg] by the dealership. Of course I did a little bit more freeway driving with that Shell tank so I think maybe I'm much closer to that now with the Mobil.

On August 1 I have a 330 mile drive with all highway (though a 40 mile stretch will be through Los Angeles, and another 50 through the mountainous Grapevine area, other than that it should be all wide open) with which I'm intimately familiar. My old 2000 Altima MT (don't laugh) used to get a solid 32 mpg on that drive even up until the day I traded it in earlier this month so I look forward to seeing what the TL will get. Especially looking forward to that incline up the Grapevine where my Altima would lose a tremendous amount of power, and seeing how another 130 horses helps.

City MPG

So this week I am driving my car 50% highway and 50% city and I am getting 22MPG so far. Not as great as I was expecting but it is still not horrible. My buddy's Audi S5 gets 12 city and 18 highway.... He can't even make it over 250 miles per tank (18 gallon tank).... I know it's V8 and super charged but I was like WHAT

And with me having a FWD I'd expect to get a little more (and I don't put A/C on all the time either, and I drive with my windows up generally to reduce drag, moonroof may be tilted up in rare occasions).

After looking at my experience with Mobil and Shell, there's something that was weird with the Costco gas. When the tank before and after are getting significantly more mpg, something's up.

I have arrived in Ohio from DC. With my new DWS tires I saw an average of 30MPG with about 10 miles of city driven, before I reached 495. My speed was 62 MPH. I've never seen 30mph on my 09 before. The best I could do was 28MPG. So the tires did give me some extra MPG. Let me say, the Continental DWS is almost magical compared to the Michelins that came on the car. The ride is much more smoother and the car feels more planted. It feel almost like a got a new suspension. My 30mpg not last very long. Once I started running up on the big rigs, it was pedal to the medal. Gotta pass them before they ride side by side and block me in. So, the average came out to 28mpg for the whole trip. The acura V6 is one heck of a motor. Hitting 90-100 comes very fast!

12 SH-AWD Tech
9000 miles
1 oil change
Tire pressure typically 32 psi - after a few minutes at highway speed TPMS typically reads around 37-38 around

Most city driving - average around 19mpg with Shell premium
Highway driving - average around 26mpg with cruise at 85mph

Last trip I went thru a 30 mile construction zone at 45mph on cruise - mpg went up to almost 35mpg lol

Just got back from a 250 mile road trip - snapped a few pics of the MID. I had the cruise set at 80mph just about the whole trip except for when we hit construction zones and a couple in town stops. Not bad for that speed I think.

For an AWD going 80 that's not bad at all! I just did a 170 mile trip and didn't reset the trip meter (I only do that on fill-ups), but for the first 200 miles of the tank my average was 19.5 due to mostly city driving, and then after this trip it was up at 23.5 overall (for the entire tank) so I probably was close to 30 for the trip. I didn't use cruise control and kept it between 65 - 75 with light traffic and only one incident where I had to really gas it to pass someone who wasn't paying attention.

Avg MPG is directly related to avg MPH. Drive slow, get crap mileage. If you're averaging 16MPH, there's a good chance you're at or below 16mpg. Just visit the 3G section, it is littered with gas mileage threads daily.
