Missing Mayan Bronze
I saw this article in yesterday's Wall Street Journal and was wondering if this is why Mayan Bronze has gone AWOL. Honda/Acura wasn't mentioned in the article but it would make sense if a company controls 100% of the market.

Without a subscription to the online edition of the Wall Street Journal, we cannot read the article. It would be great if you can cut and paste it for us.

Sorry about that - I screwed up. Didn't realize it was a locked article. Let me see if I can find another link. I am not crazy about "pasting" copyrighted material.

Did a Google search with the title of the article and was able to read the whole story. Yes it helps explain the Mayan Bronze situation and probably the change from Basque Red to BR II.

What is BR II. Is there any definitive source around that shows/describes the colors available on these cars? We are starting to do some serious shopping but the anemic color selection available at the several local TL dealers keeps us from serious negotiating. It is always much easier to negotiate a deal if the dealer has something at least close to what we are looking for on the lot versus having to order or trade with other dealers.

Yeah--most of what they offer on hand seems to be NON-colors--black, white, silver (2 shades oh boy!).
By the way, I just got back from a local dealer who ended up offering a pretty good price for FWD Tech Package--$37,200. Of course his first offer was much higher ($39,200). I don't get it. Don't these salespeople know that virtually everyone these days has easy access to pricing information? I stuck to my guns on wanting Mayan Bronze only because the sales guy and manager said they could probably trade for one. They said they found one at another dealer but didn't want to start the trade with them unless I really wanted to buy today. I said okay and they presumably made the call but said the dealer had just sold that one. Frankly, I think they were just feeling me out to see how committed we were and they promised to keep looking.

Mayan Bronze is a very rich, unique and special color-hopefully they can swap one for you.
Regarding dealers, yes they still try to act like no one has pricing information-on the chance that you might be one of the small minority that show up unprepared.

Both of the above vehicles were dealer swaps from other dealers, having run the vin's. But 2...that's it, in CA, NV, WA, and OR.

They are serious. Taking a look myself in the Acura system, as of tonight there is a total of (1) Mayan Bronze/Parchment TL Tech in CA and (1) in Arizona. Otherwise, nothing. Of the few Mayan TL's made earlier in the year, they're dried up by now.

This is a STUPID question but I have to ask. If the pigment for making this color is no longer available or scarce, how would an owner of a Mayan Bronze vehicle get his car repainted should there be an accident, vandalism etc? I know there is a very logic explanation out there
