Meet the newest family member, the 2010 Acura TL SH-AWD 6spd!
Just took delivery today. I will post more reviews and comments later on, but I finally came home with the 2010 Acura TL AWD 6spd. It's good to be back with the Acura family after leaving my 1G TSX for (briefly) the pathetic and utterly cramped 09 IS 250 AWD.
Short summary: The 6spd TL is absolutely awesome. Feels rock solid, tremendous power even at 2-3k rpm, very comfortable cabin, very Germanic drive quality, but with reliable Japanese reliability.

I think headlight washers are only available on Canadian models.
Congrats BTW, Nice color Combo
Did you manage to get them down on the price or where they pretty stuck on MSRP??
Is it true you only have 4 different color choices for the 6MT in the USA??? The Canadian 6MT was just released on Acura.ca and they show 7 color choices with various interior options. I was just wondering if its a misprint on the USA site.

Cool!
Is the 6-speed MT as slick as the mags and Acura say it is?
Tried the hill assist start yet?

Had to say if I was able to negotiate on the price of the TL per se. Because I had to deal with the trade in of my 09 IS 250 AWD, there were 2 price factors involved. The stealership gave me a value greater than the buy back bid Lexus offered, so they were stuck on MSRP. In the end, I guess you can say I got them to lower the price on TL per se by a few thousand.

The clutch is a little different though, feels a little "magnetic and air smooth" if I were to try to describe it. I'm still getting used to the clutch, trying to get a feel for the friction point (or maybe it's because I haven't driven stick in a while).
So many hills and slopes here in the NW, including my driveway. I have to say the hill start assist is a big plus. As I'm still getting accustomed to the clutch, I have to admit I'm starting to feel/see when I'm on an incline, the car does not roll back feverishly. So I have to give a thumbs up to the hill start, IMHO. Very beneficial.
The transmission is dam nice: ultra smooth gearing, ample power all around, even at 2-3k rpms (though I haven't gone beyond 4k rpms yet). To truly appreciate the 305 HP V6 of the TL, you HAVE to HAVE the 6spd MT.

I was actually very close in getting a A4 2.0T, but what held me back was the narrow foot well on the passenger side seat and questionable German reliability. Members on Audizine/Audiworld were already having reliability issues with their 09 A4s (steering wheel vibrations, low speed shimmy, rubber linings coming off). Plus by the time you price out the A4 with the options I wanted, I was approaching $48k for a 4 cylinder engine
Then finally the 2010 TL 6spd came out. Truly a fine package: roomy cabin for family of 4 (and a dog), terrific engine and transmission, comfy seats in front/rear, lots of standard tech equipment, and desirable Japanese Honda/Acura reliability. Who else can manufacture such an automobile?

My beer fridge is in
I bought my TL SH-AWD back in May. My wife encouraged me to go get it cuz the prices were so low (less than 38k for sh-awd and tech). So i was excited. Now i have buyers remorse for not waiting
Congrats on your ride!

The Lexus was a POOR financial mistake. I bought a 09 IS 250 AWD a few months ago, traded in a perfectly fine 1G TSX (I wanted an AWD sedan to deal with the winters here, and was willing to sacrifice power for nice cushy seats; with my TSX I couldn't go anywhere in the winter without slipping and sliding, and couldn't negotiate any hills, let alone my driveway; plus the TSX's seats had minimal lumbar support).
After driving the IS for a few weeks, I started noticing my right leg would cramp up after I drove the car; then my right knee cap. Then my right foot, knee, and hip started to burn and cramp. I didn't know why until I noticed the IS had an atrocious hump in the driver's foot well. I had absolutely no place to rest my right leg, and my leg was always in an awkward position. The IS' seat's per se were nice, but everything else was so darned cramped up.
For some fricking reason, I did not notice this hump during my test drives. I had absolutely no idea to look for such atrocities. I realized the IS was a bit small and thought the snugness would permit a more connected feel with the car. Well, that was all hogwish.
Anyways, I was to the point where I couldn't drive the IS anymore b/c of the pain. My wife could drive it, but she wanted me to have something I could enjoy.
I took an ample amount of financial hit from trading in the IS so early, but I realized life is too dam short. So I just treated it as "entertainment tax" and moved on with my life, and got something I wanted.
The TL is everything the IS is not: roomy, powerful, fast, comfortable, useful navigation that doesn't lock you out when the car is moving, good all around visibility, decent size trunk, etc.; a true sports sedan that chop off the heads of the 335xi, A4, S5, G37...
The IS is a wolf in hamster's clothing.

I think that will eventually be my next car...
AWD 6 Speed in Mayan Bronze with Umber interior.
CONGRATS!
Enjoy it! Sounds like it's all you hoped for.
About trading in and taking a hit...it's just money...I did the same thing after 5 weeks with a Nissan frontier a few years ago!

You should not have remorse for an everyday driver I will stick with my auto I can enjoy the cars tech more, rather than being distracted with shifting gears especially in the city. Congrads on all though who have purchased the 6 speed MT, hopefully this will give Acura some performance cred when it whips cars like the G in magazines despite being heavier.
