Exclamation Looking to BUY 2012 Acura TL (HELP)!!

I'm looking to buy an Acura TL (not sure about Tech Pkge), but I want to know is there a reason I should not buy the TL. I have a couple of options on Used and like the vehicle's they look sporty, quick and fun to drive and seem to have decent gas mileage. all the reviews state it's a nice car, but is there something I should know now.

What should I look for, what's something I should watch out for, any suggestions on models.

Need some help as I'll be a new Acura driver , never had one before. I drive a Volvo now.

Any and all suggestions welcome, I'll be purchasing in the next 2 weeks so HELP all you ACURA ZINE peeps.

Get the Tech Package. You will need a rear camera to park the car. It's big...

This is my 2nd TL (2012 SH-AWD Advance) and I have to say that I love the car. I love the aggressive styling, handling, features and low maintenance that comes with this car. The normal things to look for with the 4th gen appears to be the Torque Converter and Propeller Shaft. I had my Propeller Shaft replaced at no cost by the dealer (whistling noise). Wasn't as good on gas as I expected but honestly one of my co-workers got a 2012 535i Xdrive and an employee got a 2010 328i Xdrive and I would take my TL over those two. I've had good luck with my 2003 TL and looking forward to many years with this one. Got my Advance with 56,000 miles for $23,800. Good luck with your search!!

Just did a 2012 w/ Tech Certified 32k miles for 22,750.

Most of the 12's on the lots are lease returns. Be aware of the 4yr/50k warranty. Some of the car's had the 4yr date coming up in November.

I drove a few TL's, one I remember having a very stiff accelerator pedal. It seemed like there was very little pressure from idle to full-on. Any thoughts on this?

OP,

I got the 14-AWD-Adv. and yes its fun to drive. I love the SH.

The Cons, well its big and heavy for everyday driving (I think?) especially with the AWD system about 300 lbs. extra (total about 4K lbs.), that means MPG is really bad. Im getting 18-19 MPG on mix city and hway.

I would suggest for you to get the Tech. Without it, that dash at the middle will not look pleasant and agree with Echo, camera is a big deal for this big butt car. Also ELS audio system is a good thing to have.

Goodluck!

Get the tech package. Its totally worth it and should only be 500-800 more than non tech. Get AWD if you can. Pass on the Advance. Its like a 2000.00 premium and not worth it IMO.

Something I noticed on a TL I test drove, between 20-25'ish it seemed to have a slight hesitation in acceleration? is this normal? This was on a Tech with 80K miles. I'm finding a lot of Base models and only a couple of Tech models.
Don't need the Advance or SH-AWD, although nice not needed for me as a daily driver and when needed to go on long trips.

Anyone have any complaints on leg or head room in the back seats?

what about ping'ing or engine issue's? what's the worse fix?

Be willing to travel to get a better car/deal. There are 100's of used TL's on the market. You should be able to get a good price as the market is saturated. Play one dealer against another.
