As some of you know I am in the market to buy a Mayan Bronze Bast TL w/ Tech within the next couple of weeks. I have been going back and forth with one dealership in my local area all the while using a out of town dealer for leverage.

The local dealer initially came in way over the asking price of the out of towner. Something to the likes of $1500. Well I got them to come down from 37300 to 36300. (The out of towner was at 35800). The local guys add fender flaps, wheel locks, trunk tray and some other small add on's. Dealer claims package equates to 495 of add ons (dealer cost is $400). Out of town guys add 300 of stuff to all of their cars.

So we at $36700 for local and $36100 for out of town.

BUT WAIT---This morning I receive an email from out of town guys offering $34800. Right

What do you guys think is an acceptable price for having a local dealer in my pocket? Keeping in mind they are in the middle of a dealer swap to get the color that I said I wanted.

 

I don't believe having a local dealer in your pocket makes any difference. In the end it's your money. And if you do buy it from the out of towner and then end up taking it to the local dealer for ALL your service needs, he'll be in your pocket in no time.

I bought my car in NJ at the local dealer but so far I've done all my maintenance and warranty work (some pretty serious in my opinion) at Acura of Boston since I drive up every week for work (long story). How's that for "out of town"? In the end, you know what? A of B treated me like I bought the car from them, as they should. So it makes no difference in my mind.

 

get the better deal. Tell the local dealer, the out-of-towner is offering $34,800 (about right for a FWD /tech)

If they match it, they match it... if not, buy from the other place....

$34,800 is a good price for a FWD/Tech

 

Thanks guys. Out of town for me is Dallas about a 9 hour drive. I'll shoot for the stars and offer 34K and they bite I'll drive my happy a** to Dallas in a heart beat.

 

I just got an email from Goodson (Irving, Texas) and they are offering a TL w/Tech for $34,803 with a $500 AMEX Card. If you would like you can PM me and I'll give you the details. I purchased from them and they delivered to my driveway for a reasonable fee. They were very easy to work with and would do it again for the savings.

 

Well i just emailed the New Orleans dealer and informed them they will have to do $34,800 or it is a no go.

 

oh snap! out of town, for me, is a 15 minute drive.

I have 14 acura dealers, in a 30 mile radius from me.

6 of them on Long Island

I have "2" dealers within 2hrs. Neither of which has a Mayan Bronze in stock.

I received the same email this morning from Goodson. I have been in contact with Mike M. over at the dealership. I am waiting to here from Walker in New Orleans about what they think of 34,800 and if they can't do it then I am off to Dallas. I have a trade so having them ship it to me is not an option. Unless they can give me a decent deal on my RSX and bring it back to Dallas I will be driving to them next weekend.

 

And the results are in!!

I will be buying from the local guy...

He came down to $35,800 Add ons include splash guards, wheel locks & trunk tray.

Dallas was at a basement price of $34,800 w/ $300 of add ons So about $35,100 I and would have added splash guards for $153+installation So we looking at ~ $35,300

For a difference of $500 I will be staying local.

 

I bought my AWD from 5 hours away, they drove it half way and I met them, they woudl have driven it the entire way if I wanted it delivered to my door. Also if the price advanateg is that good you might be able to pay to have the car trucked to you and still be ahead!
