Hey guys recently got my 4th gen tinted and the tint guy removed the 3rd brake light cover to tint the window under. He is my installer and has been for the last 10 years with no issues yet. After the tint was done I noticed red light bleeding from the brake light cover to the window and rear deck when braking. I tried to unclip the cover and re install it but it don't make a difference. The black rubber lining does not adhere to the back of the window. I called my installer and told him about the situation, he was apologetic and said maybe a clip broke. He offered to pay for the new cover and I ordered the part from acura what stumps me
is that the new cover does the exact same thing as the old one and still bleed light. Is there a specific way to install this cover? Rather than just clipping it in ?

 

My 2010 is the same way, It is also the source of rear decklid rattle like noises. I have found if you pull it off and reinstall it without pounding the clips in it seals the light out for a while. I am thinking about adding some thin weather striping to the sealing surface.

 

Thanks, I think weatherstripping is the only solution. The 3rd gen also had a similar design issue also. Sucks to know that even civics don't have this issue lol. The bleeding light it driving me nuts at night!!!

 

I used some black double sided sticky tape around the perimeter of the light and stuck it on after acura replaced mine under warranty at 40K and it sagged again by 55K.
