I'm interested in adding some LED switchback sidemarkers to my TL but I was wondering if this means I'd need to change the lense as well to get a nice white hue or if it would just be a bulb replacement?

You only need the switchback bulbs. The lenses look orangish now because the bulbs inside them are orange. You may also need resisters to prevent hyperflash.

 

I got the Lasfit led switchback bulbs and am super happy with the results.

 

 

They are much brighter in person. Not sure why in the first pic it doesn't look that bright, but attached is another pic.

 

What exactly is a "switchback" bulb?

 

It's a bulb that can switch from white to orange. It will stay on as white and blink orange when you turn on the turn signal.
