Wrong Pete. The TL has actually outsold the G by a pretty good margin each of the last three months.

The entire G37 family (sedan, coupe and convertible) outsells the TL, but the TL has outsold the G37 sedan by a significant margin recently.

I also thought this was a nice vehicle.. somewhat like the Lincoln MKS in looks and interior. Maybe it looks even better due to the past failures of Buick...

Thanks for the correction, I meant the G series cars as a group. As far as the sedans go, the TL may be outselling the G sedan recently, but I see far fewer 4G's on the road compared to the G37's.

I'm sure the plastics are of poor quality.

The interior, in my opinion, just blows away anything from Acura or Lexus. I just LOVE that ambient ice-blue lighting. I never imagined the day when a Buick was able to out-feature an Acura.....heated/cooled seats, blind-spot monitor, HUD display, panorama roof, dual rear DVD screens, Touch screen and voice-activated NAV.....list goes on and on.....all for $36K!

I'm sure you came to this conclusion after a thorough test-drive and material analysis, correct?

(Seriously, though, plastics are plastics....doesn't really matter if the plastic came from a Buick or from a Mercedes....they all get scuffed-up and scratched w/time......the plastic arround my front door speaker grill is already scuffed-up and looks terrible)

I would say that almost everybody who has bought the TL picked it due to features, performance, style, reliability and value. Official crash test results weren't released until months after it was introduced into the market. And even if the crash test results turned out less than perfect, I don't think it would have affected sales. My point exactly. Most people have been "marketed" into paying more attention to sexy blue LED accents and a few 10th's of a second better 0-60 times than something as important as the car's crash worthiness. With all of the Big Mac eating, cell phone talking, fast and furious junior racer wanna be drivers on the roads, I want the most protection I can get for me and my loved ones.

It should be considered an important part of the total package of reliability, safety, luxury, styling and performance.

I think you're not giving the public enough credit. Consumers are pretty smart these days. They know what they want and what to shop for. Besides, these are are not the 1970's.....cars today are built much more solidly and to a much higher safety standard than they were decades ago. Even the cheapest Hyundai today has standard front and side airbags and ABS brakes. I believe a good part why the TL has received such a high crash test rating is because it's gotten bigger and heavier.......sadly, at the expense of performance.

Maybe, but I visit a lot of car forums and it isn't mentioned much. I had 3 criteria when I was shopping for a 4WD vehicle in 2003. It had to have good crash test ratings, had to get over 20MPG city and had to be highly rated by Consumer Reports. At the time there were no options offered by the big three that met my criteria. I wound up with a CR-V and have been happy with it.

All I'm saying is at least with the Lacrosse, Impala and 1500 series pick ups, as well as other newly designed vehicles in their fleet, GM still hasn't made the commitment to design and build the safest vehicles possible. And I don't see the masses calling them out on it. Maybe like me, they just moved on to brands who build vehicles with the qualities that I'm looking for.

If I remember correctly, the G has only outsold the TL in one or two months...so far I haven't seen any G37 sedans in my area.

I drove one today a CXS loaded and must say, while not a competitor to my AWD TL, I can see it compete nicely to a base TL. Once you add the touring package to the CXS you have a car that matches up well to the FWD TL. The car is narrower, but the styling is very attractive. I know it is aiming for the Lexus ES and that genre of car, but the materials are good, not quite as good as the TL, but very close. The HK sound system competes well with the ELS and the navi is very nice, the resolution does not seem as good as the TL, btu is more colorful and has a more lively color coded view than the more boring TL Navi. It is also touch screen. The MID display is color and hi-rez although the controls for it are n the left stalk, rather cumbersome I might say. From a dead stop the car has a decent amount of get up and go, but the TL feels like it has more torque. accelerating at speed the Buick is very capable. The steering is about as numb as the FWD TL, not in the same leauge as the AWD and it has less feedback than the FWD TL. The front leag room very good, especially if you are over 6 foot, although the car is not as wide as a TL and the sweeping center console does eat into some of the leg well space. The sloping narrow rear does narrow your rear window view. All in all this is a decent car, has many features I doubt we'll see in a TL for some time, and it rides nice. I think they have a hit on their hands, but I don't think Acura will loose many sales to it.

Im sorry guys, I must disagree. The TL is the hottest sedan on the road today. People stare and gawk all the time at its sleakness design. Some say its ugly, I say its original and fun. The others are nice, dont get me wrong. But the TL is the hotness right now!

I don't think you can compare the Buick with the TL. Certain people buy buicks (older/pure comfort). People who are looking at the Buick are also looking at the Lexuc ES350 or the Toyota Avalon.
People looking at the TL are also probably looking at BMW, Audi, & maybe Maxima (younger/performance)

I have to agree with that to some degree. However, amenities are important in todays market as well. Performance, style, and comfort are very different in these two cars which makes them different IMO.

I looked and drove one and wasn't that impressed. I thought it was a huge step for GM but I have to wonder about the long term quality and resale value. Considering this as a Luxury car or a Sport Luxury car and a GM doesn't look good for either item. I wish them well but with the financial problems GM has had I would not jump back into the GM line for the next couple of years. I kind of have the wait and see attitude with them.

The upcoming awd Regal GS with 6MT and turbo direct injected 255 hp engine is more intriguing to me.

I don't buy into image and marketing hype - I buy good product. I will not avoid the brand because the ignorant masses might assume it's an old man's car. ...and if my ego did weaken and need a refresh, I could remind myself with an under 5.5 second 0-60 run and pull .9g around the next corner to affirm it ain't my father's Buick.
