Keyfob warning light

Hi all,

New 4G TL owner. I'll do a longer post later with my impressions, but so far I really like the car.

One issue. I had to leave it with a valet the other night and now when I try to lock the car, it gives me a warning light telling me to remove the keyfob from the slot. It's not in the slot, but the light lights and it beeps and won't lock when I press the lock button.

Anyone had this problem? Any quick solution besides taking it to the dealer? I've tried gently putting the fob into the slot but that doesn't do anything.

Thanks much!

While in Park, WITHOUT pressing the brake pedal, try just pressing the start/stop button once or twice to toggle the mode. This happened to me a couple times.

Hi Clean,

Thanks for the tip. Tried it and I can hear some mechanism inside the slot trying to click into place, but it didn't seem to work. Guess I'm headed to the dealer. Especially since I can't lock the car!

By any chance do you have your second remote in the car somewhere by mistake?

Nope, thought of that too! But I didn't try switching to remote 2 and leaving remote 1 somewhere else...

Sounds like time for a visit to the dealer. Even without an appt I'd drop by and get your service advisor to grab a tech and have him come out and read for ECU trouble codes. Might get to the bottom of things fast. If somethings wrong they can get the parts ordered and you can schedule a drop off

I would take it to the dealer, but it sounds like the issue which is addressed in Acura TSB B08-053 which is posted in the 4G TL Garage here on Acurazine:

http://www.in.honda.com/rjanisis/pubs/SB/B08-053.pdf

Keyless Access Remote Doesn’t Lock Into Its Slot and Won’t Lock the Doors

SYMPTOM
The keyless access remote doesn’t lock into its slot in the dashboard, and its buttons won’t lock the doors. In addition, the interior beeper sounds when you open the driver’s door, even though the engine is off and the remote is removed from its slot.

PROBABLE CAUSE
The keyless access remote was forcefully removed from its slot in the dashboard when the vehicle was left in ACCESSORY mode.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Reposition the carriage inside the keyless access remote slot.

^^^ Bam! Good catch jazacuto. That sounds like it. I've never used that slot and can't think of a reason why I would unless the remote battery was dead. Even more reason to avoid it now.

That sounds like it! The dealer said to bring it by and they could fix it in 20 minutes, so they must have been seeing it.

Just to finish off the thread - they fixed it at the dealer in 10 minutes. Apparently when someone removes the fob from the slot before the engine is completely turned off, a tab doesn't release and the car believes it is still in the slot.

Last time I valet! Thanks to all for the suggestions.
