The 328I won the Car & Driver BMW 328i vs. 2008 Cadillac CTS DI, 2008 M-B C300 Sport, 2008 Infiniti G35 Sport shoot out. The TL seems to have been ignored in this test.
C&D listed the 328I at 0-60 in 6.1 - 14.8 quarter with a top speed of 150mph
C&D also listed the SHAWD at 0-60 in 6.0 - 14.8 quarter with a top speed of 130mph
Until they do a comparison test what handles better is an unknown but they did say the SHAWD is counter intuitive when you are making tracks while BMW has always been praised for its ease of handling.
I know things are different with the 09 but in real life my '04 BMW is much easier to make tracks with then my '06 Acura.
You might not like the interior but where you butt meets the car the sport seats in my 2004 330I @ 60K miles are in better condition & more comfortable then the seats in my 2006 TL @ 28K miles. For me the instruments in the BMW are clear & easy to read while they are partially blocked by the steering wheel in TL.
I make a few round trips to Jersey each year, about 980 miles & if I can I will take the 330 convert instead of the TL. That being said the 4 door TL is the car of choice if it more then me & my wife & the main reason I bought it.
As for pricing on Black Friday my son-in-law got a left over 2008 328I 4 door sport package 6MT for $30,000 + tax & tags from Leith Acura in Raleigh after a 5 hour haggle. It was a no trade deal with BMW finance at 0.9% for 60 months.

I drive past an Acura dealership everyday on my way to work. I tell ya, the 4G is looking better and better in my eyes every time I see it. I especially like the rear, in fact. The rear three-quarter view is my favourite right now, and the whole car has a new-found "Lexus" look to it, which I rather like.
Yes, the folks at Acura have taken the TL in a different direction. It might not sit well with some of the existing 3G TL owners, but it will certainly bring new customers into the fold who previously would not have looked seriously at the TL.
Well done to Acura.

Yep! I see them every day as I drive by and it's growing on me pretty quickly! I was at a local Acura dealer in Charlotte and there were plenty of ppl looking at the new TL. I think they will sell without a problem..especially now that both models are out for comparison

As much as I'd love to have a GT-R or CTS-V or, heck, even an NSX.....we need to get back on topic, please.
The new TL is not bad in the performance department and I'm glad to see it. I can tell you, having used SH-AWD for over two years, that it is the shiznit. (You can thank RL owners for being guinea pigs later. ) I'm sure that Acura sees the controversy over the external design and will make some tweaks in the MMC.

BAvH's Son-In-Law FTMFW!
That is the Black Friday deal to end all deals!
The 328i MT w/Sport will beat down any Acura and will include four years of included maintenance at thousands less. On balance, BAvH's son-in-law will have to check his iPhone in place of XM with Weather.
Why defend Acura? They could have easily stepped the TL up to compete with the big boys and instead choose to emulate the Lexus ES, grill excepted of course.

Something Better
For me, in a nutshell, the 4G SH-AWD is a $45K car that performs like a $45K car but looks like a $1K car.

The engine of the 4G TL sounds good, the upcoming MT sounds good, the sound system does sound good, the SH-AWD sounds good. And they said the weight is not much more than the last model which is good. Now if we could just put a bag on its head I think we might have something.
