It's been almost 2months since I own my TL fwd....
I bought my 2010TL with 63k miles and so far there are more dislikes vs likes. I am still in the process of understanding the car but unfortunately there are serveral issues which I am unsure of it's either how the car is or problems that need to be fixed.
1. I ll start of with the fuel economy which I am only getting 11-12 mpg from 10/90 hwy/local from light driving which i already posted in another thread.
2. The handling and the ride quality feels horrible and unsafe like the car is bouncy and leans too much when just making turns at slow speed in addition to the loose steering.
3. When I accelerate while the car is doing around 30mph, it would jerk for 1-2 seconds than the speed picks up instead of a smooth instant acceleration.
I most likely will be wasting money having to take the car to a mechanic and get these issues checked out but I would rather get some inputs here from owners of the same car. If it is more on how the car is than I will likely get rid of it.

Is it an SH-AWD model? I know all too well from experience that abysmal fuel economy in city driving is quite normal. The car should feel tight in corners if the suspension and associated components are in good shape, so there's likely something amiss with yours. The jerky acceleration could be the torque converter (a known issue) or some other transmission fault. It is strongly recommended to replace every single fluid in a used car after purchase regardless if the seller claimed to do so prior to the sale.

For a FWD, it's a horrible MPG, even for 90% local. Your car needs to get checked out. Also the handling issue is non-characteristic of the car as well. Get it checked out.
As for acceleration, you have a 2010 with a 5 speed so the transmission pretty responsive and should downshift more eagerly than the 2012+ with 6 speed trans. What you are feeling is is mostly likely the downshift hesitation from the transmission, new fluid would help a little bit. But since you are getting bad gas mileage, it's probably something with the engine. Have the whole car checked out.
My 2013 with 90K miles drives almost like the day I drove it off the lot and I am getting 23-24 mpg mix 50/50 city and freeway driving.

When you take the car in, have the axles looked at; they could well be the cause of the shimmy under acceleration.
