Idle in Park and Drive

Idle in Park and Drive
I have had a long line of Acuras and my 2014 seems a bit rough in the idle department, but only when the car is engaged in drive with the compressor or fan running.
I have owned a 2013 Acura TL, 2010 v6 TSX, and 2001 TL and non felt this rough when the Ac kicks on drive.
On N and P its butter smooth.
Its pretty much to the point where my wife also notices.
Took it to the dealer and the smart ass tells me thats the engine valves going up and down..

Is the tach needle jumping?
I notice my AC compressor going on overdrive when I'm idling and it irritates me to no end!
It sounds worse when I'm at the drive trough with the windows lowered...

It's the A/C compressor... a well known and documented issue by many owners. SEARCH is your friend

dnd2984 - you are not alone in experiencing rough idling in the 4G TL. I bought a 2012 CPO TL 4 months ago and am looking to replace it even though I will most likely lose money in the process. The dealer was nice enough to let me sit in a brand new 2014 TL which was actually worse than mine. Regardless, life is too short... I see that you also have an MDX. Our MDX is an '05 and I can barely feel the engine running at idle with the gears engaged. This is definitely very unexpected in a car like the TL.

I have a feeling the TLX will be much more refined, considering how nice the drivetrain feels on the RLX and new MDX.

This isn't the reason why I traded my TL for a 550ix, but it was something that bothered me. Often times, as long as it wasn't hot, I would turn the AC off just so it idled smoother.

slick316 - I actually came from an E60 and now I'm thinking of going back to an F10. I'm sure your 550 is buttery smooth at idle as well as off the line. That's the thing I miss the most about the E60. What I don't miss are all the repairs. The reason for my hesitation pulling the trigger are the issues with the run flats and easily bent wheels especially on the 19s. Enjoy your beast!
I really hope I don't have issues with the 19s. I avoid potholes and what not, but this car is so heavy that I am afraid the weight of it will just crush the wheels, lol.
You only live once. If the car becomes problematic I can always trade it for something else. Its just to have something different after more than a decade of Honda/Acura products.
