How to replace side mirror casing of 2012 TL

I recently backed out of my garage and dinged the side mirror of my brand new 2012 acura tl. I checked online to see how to replace the casing and didnt find anything usefull.

the part i needed is only about 45 dollars from here http://parts.sonsacura.com/products/...TK4-A02ZM.html

The part i need was 4, the right side mirror casing, 11 is the left side.

I was looking to see how to get the casing off and finally I found a youtube video that shows how to do it on a tsx, its the same for the tl

just wanted to share with you guys , hope it will help and save you some money

Same. Just roll down the window and take out the cover from the inside and should be some screws and then unplug it. Simple to do.

Replace mirror

I thought I'd revive an old thread, rather than start a new one. I have a similar issue where I need to replace/fix my mirror. My car was parked on the street and the next morning I came out to see the passenger mirror hanging on the side of the car. I guess someone swiped the mirror as they were passing by. My question is whether or not the whole mirror needs to be replaced? It seems to be broken at the area that swivels, right where the housing meets the part that screws on to the car. I've put an arrow at the spot I'm referring to. Does anyone know how the housing connects to it? Is this repairable or would I need to order a whole new mirror? Thanks

whole mirror needs to be replaced,
i believe you have to take apart the door panel to be able to access the bolt that holds the side mirror onto the door..

Thanks! I was afraid the whole mirror had to be replaced. Taking off the door panel seems to be a PIA, so I was really trying to avoid that. Do you by chance know how the housing attaches to the bottom part so that mirror swivels (i.e. where the arrow is in the pic above)? Can it be taken apart?

You will need to take the door panel off. I've replaced a side mirror on my brother-in-laws 2000 Avalon twice. Also have taken off door panels on 03 Maxima and 97 4Runner. You jut need to take your time and be gentle. It really isn't that hard.
I don't think you would be able to separate the mirror at the swivel point unless once you have it off there's a way to get at it?

Just based on the fact they sell everything for the mirror individually except for that part that attaches to the car (weird), I would think there would be way to take it apart. As you said, it probably would have to be off the car anyway to do it. So, it looks like I will have no choice but to remove the door panel. I saw a thread about door panel removal and it doesn't seem too bad, but still looks like a PIA. Just wish car manufactures gave you access to the screws for the mirror without you actually having to remove the entire door panel. Why make it so difficult? Oh well, it looks like a project for one of these upcoming weekends. It doesn't help that the forecast saying the next couple of days will be the coldest it has been all winter.

Is it possible to take the two mirror halves apart with taking the whole assembly off?
