How Often Do People Compliment Your TL?
Random thread I know, but I was taken back a little bit this morning. At 7:30AM I pulled in to the building garage where I work, and this woman in her late 40's early 50's rounded the corner as if she was following me and stopped dead in her tracks in her Mazda SUV.
"Is that your car?" she asked, to which I confusingly replied "yes". Then she went on and on about how much she loved it, how great it looked, etc. "A man after my heart" she told me... lol. Granted I had just hand washed the car yesterday and it looked oh soo good (CBP looks great when clean!), but I was still a bit surprised for such a lively conversation at 7:30AM.
Just made me think for a minute because I know the 4th gens get a lot of hate on styling points, particularly exterior styling points. I've always gotten compliments on the interior, but not so much the exterior. Glad to know there are fans out there!
Curious: how often do y'all get compliments on your 4th gen?

I get quite a few compliments on mine too! I live in a place where Acura are extremely rare so that adds to the mix.
I would say that I get about 2-3 OMG I love your car a week
PS....Any chance she was trying to hit on you?

I get a fair amount here in St. Louis. Not too many around and I try to keep it clean as often as possible. Seems to be a lot of bimmers and infinitys in the area so I think it stands out a little more.

I use to get compliments because I'm one of the few that have the lip kit around surprisingly. I've seen a couple. Now, after the drop and my gold VSXX. It's non stop! I have M3 roll up hella fast to give me the thumbs up of approval. Same with the Civic/Integra scene lol. Broken necks everywhere but I knew this was gonna happen with my setup. The wife thinks it's too flashy. Everyone is looking at us. Think she woulda learned from my tsx haha.
Keep on stuntin and repping the 4G guys and gals!

About two or three weeks after i got my car a guy at Chevron gas station in a Lexus IS asked me "is that a lexus" and I replied "No it's and Acura", his reply "oohh an Acura"
A lady coming out of a dry cleaning store asked me something about her car involving detailing, then later saying "i love your car it's fabulous"
Not too long ago when leaving IKEA the security guy asked me if I lowered my car because the way it was siting. I told him no everything was stock except for tints. He said he had the same model car and year but my car looks like it sits lower than his. He said "it looks good" and asked "how do you like it" , my reply "oh man i love it, love my car" I think maybe he had the TECH package with 18" wheels.
After a good cleaning and detailing on a sunny day i do notice a lot of people turning there heads when I drive by

Compliments and questions fairly often - I think I'm one of 2 4G's in my area, nearest Acura dealer is an hour away and there's a Benz dealer right in town, so they monopolize the *luxury* segment of our streets. My GF and I were at a Pizza joint and a couple sat by us and asked if that was our car. They loved the LED DRL's as we pulled in. Girls typically make comments more than guys. If my GF is with she's very quick to tell them the car looks nice and handles great, but she hates the bumpy ride

All the time. I get tons of stares, nods and thumbs up when I roll by lol. It's a truely unique car. No other like it. The 4G is a 4door coupe IMO, the way the roofline slopes down to the trunk very elegantly lol. And the placement of the rear license plate is integrated into the bumper rather than the trunk. Commonly found on coupes.

I get more questions about the interior than anything else. Obviously this is from people I know and have seen the inside. The number one thing is always about the number of buttons and they look confusing or distracting. The second thing is about the Umber interior, it's either a love or hate interior.

I got a comment about the umber interior being stylish and the paint being shiny (day 2 of the car, much dirtier now).

Just bought mine this weekend, (Mayan Brown/Umber) and was inspecting the engine. I had the hood up and heard a group of people walking behind my car. I heard one of them say, "that's a nice car", so I popped my head around the hood and thanked them. Always nice to hear stuff like that.

I've had my eye on this color combo for about a year now, kept hemming and hawing about whether I wanted a new car/car payment. I had and still own a 2008 Civic Si that was free and clear. As of right now, I couldn't be happier with this car...Luxury, Performance and Style. Great ride!
Funny epilogue to the story tho....as the group was walking away, I saw one of the younger guys in the group look at the trunk. I'll assume he saw the "SH-AWD" and I hear him say to his friend...."that's supercharged!"
In my dreams LOL

I've had my 2010 SH-AWD for about 16 months and haven't had any comments/compliments. After having an STi for 10 years, this is a real change. With that, I got comments all the time and even more "looks".

I don't mean to be an A-Hole.... but why do people feel bad when they don't get compliments on their car? IMHO, you should like the car and not care what anybody else thinks. We shouldn't have to impress anybody...

I think you're taking those posts too seriously/literally. It's just that it's always nice to see that other people like our cars as well. Of course we like our own car which is why we spent the money to buy our TL to begin with as opposed to a Corolla or a Civic. I'd always be happier if I had more compliments like some of you folks but Acuras and TLs are very common here in Toronto (more so 3G, but I see about 5-8 4Gs a day). I'm perfectly content even though nobody says anything about my car.

I used to live in a more blue collar city, got quite a bit of complements on my TL.
Then I moved to a more affluent and snobbish city, where BMWs/MB/Lexus/Porsche are the norm. Acura here is more of a "meh" and "nothing special." Hell, I even see the occasional Aston Martin, Ferrari, and Tesla Model S; the latter two seem to garner quite a bit of compliments.

There are a lot of more expensive and more luxurious cars here in Toronto than any kind of Acura. I see a few Maserati's and Tesla's each day =P I also see the occasional Lambo.
In general though, aside from the very expensive cars, I am seeing a growing number of 4-series and X6's and a TL is not very outstanding on the roads.

I get a lot of compliments, especially after a detail session. Most recent compliments, were immediately after putting on the diamond cuts, I crossed the street to take a picture and a guy behind me stood there admiring it as well and said "that's a really nice car". Few days later, I parked on the street for a moment to step into a store and as I took my bumper protector out the trunk a male pedestrian gave me thumbs ups, I said, I'm gonna wash it in a few, it looks horrible right now, he replied "don't change a thing it's perfect", haha.

I have had a 2014 RLX for a week now. I have gotten more compliments and questions about it then I have about my TL. I have had my TL since February, but haven't had for all of June, it's in for repaint.
As for the RLX, most people ask what kind of Acura is that? How much did it cost? Do you like it? And the most asked so far. How are the headlights? After having it for a week, I'm thinking it might become a better seller than many people thought about it initially. The build quality though isn't any better since it's built in Japan, it has rattles, squeaks and right now a ground noise coming from the speakers.

I will occasionally get a compliment. Usually happens when I'm refueling. If someone rides with me, they typically comment on the car in a favorable manner. Compliments are nice and always appreciated but I don't seek them. I love my TL and to me that's the most important thing. I especially love it after a good detailing which it gets quite often. In fact, getting ready to go give it a wax job. I feel the love coming!! ;-)

All the time, even after 4 years, especially at gas stations and among people in my firm. Also, anyone who rides in it is really complimentary of the interior, even non-car people.
It's funny about all the internet hate over the styling of this car. In the real world, you would think just the opposite.

Speaking of interiors...when I showed everyone the umber interior via a picture, all my co-workers were like, "that's a horrible orange color". Once they saw it in person, they were very surprised at how it really looked.
