How is the 4th Generation TL holding up?

2012 TL SH-AWD w/Tech, White
16,500 miles
GREAT CAR with minor issues:
-Rattles in the passenger A pillar
-Navi system works great but the maps, addresses specifically, are lacking.
(map update didn't help)
-Seat heater buttons too close to cup holder. Have turned them on by accident many times.
-Honda/Acura engineers still have not solved the problem of having the optional plastic trunk tray and a cargo net.

'09 with 80k. Guess I have the highest mileage so far.
OEM battery
2 speakers
Torque converter
That's all I can think of right now. Did have some paint repai, but that was partially my fault.

I'm new to this forum, so my apologies if I'm repeating anything here; recently I began looking for a new ride. I decided that it's time to upgrade to an 'adult' car; I've worked hard! Im considering either a) a 2013 V6 SE Camry (FWD, fully loaded), or a 2010 SH-AWD TL Tech (50k, fully serviced at Acura). They both would offer the same warranty. Looks wise, handling wise, the TL wins hands-down, but buying a used car is a bit daunting. Those with this TL, is it a reliable car? How expensive is maintenance? (I'm used to my low-key Toyota). How is gas mileage (I'd be doing mostly city commuting weekdays) . Many thanks in advance!!

The Camry was a reliable, fun (and quick) car for most of my ownership, but it started popping ignition coils like tic tacs and I decided to get rid of it.
The SE had firm suspension, handled well and the engine was surprisingly very quick. From a quality, fit and finish perspective it's no comparison to the TL - and the new body style is personally not appealing to me. I liked the 2007 Camry body and with some modding, it was a good car.
The difference in gas was not as large as I thought it would be going from a 268hp to a 305hp engine. I'm burning through the same amount of gas, the only increase in cost is the price differential of premium fuel.
I think you could do better than a 2010 with 50K miles, but the TL is a much nicer car in all respects.

2012 TL Base FWD is at around 19,000 miles. I've had it for almost a years and 10 months (new).
No issues, but I've noticed the sunroof rattles when I drive now, and the trunk makes a squeaking sound when I open and close it. I'll have the dealer check it out the next time I need service

Thanks everyone for the fast replies! I forgot to say that I live in Canada, so the 2010 AWD TL Tech that Im looking at has approx 29,800 miles . I impressed that the insurance registration cost of the TL was the same as the new Camry (cost difference of $23 / yr). Hopefully I can test drive again this weekend!
QUOTE: I got the TL after trading in my 2007 Camry SE-V6 and I can say I'm sure glad to be driving the Acura.

2012 SH-AWD Advanced with 18,000 miles
6,000 miles - In warranty battery replacement
16,000 miles - In warranty propeller shaft replacement -- it was making hissing noises above 30 mph
No other problems and I'm overall happy with the car. Really love the ride.

09 TL SH-AWD. 84-86k miles. There's really no problem on mine.
Just kind of bugs me that the driver sun visor (probably because of previous female owner always checking herself out.) It doesn't stay when I swing it towards the window to block the sun from the left. It wants to comes back towards the windshield.
While I was installing the HID fog lights today, I noticed there might be rust bubbles starting to form in the wheel well/frame/front chassis. And also my WDP paint job has lots of specks of "rust?" (I live in New England)

2010 base. Second owner. First owner had the car for 2.5 years 42k. I got it and had it for a little less than a month and a little less than 2,000 miles.
Turn signal when signaling right sometimes the lever doesn't stay put. Have to hold it to get signals working.
Brakes need to be cut. Lots of vibration during high speed braking.
Battery died once but that was my fault
Brake pedal makes a swishing sound when upon being released. Most noticeable when slowing to a stop then quickly letting go.
Driver side seat feels loose at times especially during rapid change in acceleration
Trunk squeaks when open and closing.
All in all I'm glad I have the original warranty as well as an extension. I will be taking her into acura sometime this week. Love the car. Wish I had a tech package but im more than satisfied where I am at right now. Coming from an 04 accord v6 6mt coupe it's like night and day.
Also I live in Philly and my city and hwy driving is basically 50/50. Heavy foot and all that but my gas mileage is around 17.5 for 1500 miles. Anyone else getting same reports ? I'm using shell 93 octane.

Passenger seat replaced due to heating/cooling issue (they wanted to repair, I made them replace the entire seat as recovering a seat never looks good)
Passenger side front rotor scarred and grooved, taking to the dealer in the next week or so
Car is rock solid, can't wait for the TLX and I hope they have a coupe as the Accords are looking better each year and I miss my coupe.
Acura better step up the game or I will go back to Honda, RLX and Accord having the same tech?

2012 SH AWD Tech
4300 miles
Pebbles got into the heat shield and its making an annoying and almost a grinding-like noise. Dealer removed them couple of weeks ago but I guess they missed a couple. Will have to address this when I go for an oil change. Other than this, no problems.

09 fwd. 28K. No real issues other then batt. was replaced under warranty. I did not even know it was bad, but dealer said free, so I was not going to complain. Been getting 29 on Hwy. I did change tires and all brakes, just because I wanted something better. Tires make a nice difference in the ride. Love those DWS

09 AWD Tech. 86,000miles and couting. Battery was replaced by the dealer when I took the car in numerous times to get the front speakers replaced. Other than that, no issues so far. I'm thinking if I should do the torque converter recall or not.
I'm also running DWS tires and EBC brakes. Both are much better than stock.

Waiting for the OEM's to wear out before switching out to DWS or SuperSports @28,000 miles now.
But to answer OP's question, the car's been solid except for the whole oil consumption thing. Burns a 1/4 qt approx 3000 miles, so for now keeping a quart of oil in the trunk just in case. Also, the rear deck rattling was fixed under warranty.

2009 SH-AWD/Tech - 40K Km
So far so good with minor issues :
- Blown right speaker , change under warranty on the first year
- Creaking sound on the headliner. Fixed by dealer , no issues since then
To be fixed :
- Waiting now to change the wipers motor(on order) due intermittent issues with the wipers , not working from the first attempt
- Brakes need to be cut. Lots of vibration during high speed braking.
- Next winter I expect to change the battery as this winter on very cold mornings it had hard time to start, it happened once to need boost.
- Creaking noise on right door , it's been there on and off after changed the speaker. I'll tell them when they will change the wiper motor
Actually the TL is the first car within 10 cars than we own (Hondas, Mazda and Hyundai) with the least issues over the almost 4 years , it's also the car that I keep it for the longest time.

'12 Advance, bought in 4/11. 24K miles.. replaced driveshaft under warranty
Then had car broken into (broke passenger side window, ripped headliner, broken windshield) just to steal radar detector custom mounted to rearview mirror and happened in the parking garage at work.. 2 months later was hit on front drivers side fender...
Other than that.. she's been a peach

Mine is at 18K mile and rock solid. Very happy with the ride and glad I went with SH-AWD. The only complaint is the paint match issue from day 1, the bumper has obvious color mismatch to the body due to the material underneath. DPW seems to suffer more than other colors... but I love DPW, too pretty.

2010 TL 6MT - 23,000 miles.
New battery at about 18k, about to take in to replace driver's side mirror because it developed a rattle when closing door (passenger does too but that's because I cracked it ), need to get the clutch greased every other service because it develops a squeek.

2009 SH-AWD Teach. 34,000 miles. I bought the car as a CPO with 29k miles..so I've only had it the past 5k miles.
I've had zero problems with the car. I love it. I traded a 2006 RL in for this TL and it was a great move.. the RL was too soft/plusy for my tastes and the TL is far sportier.
Only mods I"ve added are H&R springs.

2012 AcuraTL Adv
2012 Adv., purchased 12/17/2011, 8600 miles with no mechanical problems so far other than the usual acceleration lag issues that everyone encounters. Had driver side visor replaced because it did not flip up flush to the roof. Otherwise, solid dependable car.

I found that when I downshift by paddle and punch it, no lag.. if I am cruising then punch it.. hesitates a little. My truck does the same.. I expect many automatics to do the same, just a little

This is how Honda automatic transmissions work. I had a 2001 Accord V6 that had it a little worse than my current 2012 TL and a 1999 Camry that was as smooth as silk. Needless to say the rest of my family loved driving the Camry vs the Accord.
I've owned a Honda since 1979 starting with the 1979 Accord LX and a 1980 Civic GL(which was the best little manual car I've driven/owned) and am a Honda lover. However, the 2001 Accord with its transmission peculiarities and then failing on me at around 120k/9yrs left a bad taste in my mouth. I was very hesitant to get another Honda/Acura when I was ready to buy the TL. Since I had just purchased a new 2011 Camry 3 month prior I did not want another Toyota (Lexus ES350) so I convinced myself that the new 6-sp transmission was an improvement over the 5-sp in the Accord.
Overall I am happy with the TL but wish Honda would come out with a better/smoother transmission.

2010 model; OEM battery replaced mileage 46k+
2009 model: OEM battery replaced and one blown speaker replaced mileage 42k+, I think
Overall the car is solid, no major issues. Gas just dropped to $2.59 regular, that's roughly $2.83 for premium so I'm feeling a little extra nice...or is that due to the Innis -Gunn Rum cask beer, LOL!

Same as a number of other owners. Had to replace the battery. Replaced it two weeks ago under warrantee with a second OEM, but the replacement is already failing. Also a common issue w/ 3rd gear occasionally popping out. Lastly, just changed the awful OEM tires.
