"So despite carrying an additional 100 lb., quicker shifts and more power carry the day with a 5.9-sec. 0–60 dash and a 14.4-sec. clocking through the quarter mile (curiously, each a full 0.4 sec. quicker than in our single-car test of the TL, January 2009)."

That's the first sub-6 sec mark posted by a major auto publication if I'm not mistaken. I wonder if they tested a little different this time around...or maybe the test car was more broken-in?
VW CC is one gorgeous car, however, in my opinion.....I saw one on the road the other day and it's presence was pure class....better looking than even some Audi's I might say.

Loved the VW CC. My favorite car during my research and test drives. I've owned 4 VWs in my life...nuff said.

"The downside? All this wizardry is integrated with styling that's also a technology geek's dream...those huge shrouds around the main gauges, the "Death Star" center stack (forgive the nerdy Star Wars reference), and more buttons on the steering wheel than a Blackberry. We're not crazy about the infotainment joystick controller, either." -- - this part always gets me in the reviews of the TL, if you've spent any time w/ any other honda/acura product w/ navi - I mean it just doesn't take that long to figure out

0.4 faster in 0-60 and 1/4 mile, suggests that it takes 0.4 seconds for the TL to shift from second gear to first gear since they torque braked it the 1st time. Also the TL was wearing the 19" wheels. We may see faster times with smaller wheels.

If the CC was your favorite car, why did you get the TL?

First let me start by saying I'm a VW fanatic. I've owned 4 VWs in my lifetime. Of the four, two had major issues after 2 years, one had minor issues at 2 years. All of then had nagging issues from time to time. At $25,000, even $30,000 this was tolerable (IMO). At $39,000 it's not. One of my closest friends has owned the same number of VAG products and his experience mirrors mine. When running well VWs run awesome. As time passes that time becomes less and less. Add to that the awful service at the dealerships and I wasn't ready to plop down that much cash on a VW.
In time if the reliability and resale of their products improve I may rejoin the VAG family, but for now I'm more then ecstatic about the TL.

VW tries to advertise CC as "luxury" car. I don't know why they are trying to cross the line when they have Audi taking care of their luxury lines.
Even if TL and CC are equally good and same price, I pick TL without thinking. If it is just like Huyndai where they don't have its luxury brother, I can try a bit to consider Genesis as luxury, but not CC.

"In My Opinion
Class, pure and simple, is what draws me to the CC. Its interior is richly rewarding on comfort, ergonomic and aesthetic fronts; and its exterior shape, though borrowing some design language from a far pricier fellow countryman, shows remarkable styling élan in a sedan that starts in the $28K range (in turbocharged 4-cylinder form). Guaranteed, the V-6 version won't beat a TL SH-AWD around Willow Springs, but it's close enough in real-world precision and performance to earn my vote.

The sporting side of me has a real affinity for the Acura TL's SH-AWD system, especially how its lateral torque distribution aids turn-in with some additional bite at the front tires; I also appreciate this Japanese sport sedan's tech amenities. But I have to go with the VW CC, thanks to its more stylish looks inside and out, easier to use controls and European ride manner — it's just a little more accommodating for use as a daily driver.

Chip it and watch little things go strangely weird like CV joint noise/failure, motor mount failure, tranny tantrums, inside tire wear, oh I forgot the rest thanks to therapy and a regimen of Honda hardware...

Is the problems with the price on the Passat CC, and also calling it "luxury" because of the VW symbol on the front and back of the car and not what the car is actually made up of?
If they branded it an Audi would it be okay? I'm just wondering if that really is the deal breaker, I always thought the CC looked luxurious.

But then my previous experience with Audi make me stay away from German cars especially VW/Audi. Surprisingly, 4G TL is my first honda/acura

"Putting reliability aside" yes that is an area no one cares about. Tow truck drivers every were just got wood!
