Hate my 4G TL!
MOD EDIT - Go to post 30 and 31 where the OP posted pics of his car and details on the audio test proving he is not trolling...
I hate this car, and I am not talking about the looks! This is not a $40K luxury car!
Buy somehting else, you have been warned!
We took delivery of our 2009 TL a couple days ago. All I can say is what an absolute disappointment. This car sucks a$$. The ride is jittery and not smooth at all. It is worse than a Chevy S-10 pickup we had a few years ago. The car feels like it is bouncing all over the place. It is like driving a skateboard on a cobblestone sidewalk. It wasn't like this in the test drive, so I am not sure what is going on. Took it back to the dealer and the service department said, "no problems!
" WTF?
The acceleration, oh wait, what acceleration? 280 hp and 254 torque, yeah right. My S-10 pickup with 135hp had faster acceleration!
The "upgraded" ELS stereo system is terrible. Total distortion above volume 7! It reminds me of the $50 pieces of garbage we bought in high school and added an amplier and some decent speakers to make it sound good. Dealer said, "It must be the type of music you are listening too."
I drove a co-workers 3G 2008 TL a few weeks ago and it was great, nice ride, great acceleration, good sound system. The 4G is a total bust! I could have bought a Civic, saved a lot of money and had a car with a better ride, better acceleration and equivalent sound system.
We traded in a 2000 BMW w/ 112K miles for this?
I admit that was a stupid move. We are now looking to get rid of the 2009 Acura TL. What a total and complete piece of $hit!
Anybody around DC want a 4G TL cheap?
RIP....

I may get flamed for this but...you sound like you didn't do your homework on this car. Did you take your own music for the test drive? Did you turn the volume up?
Did you "put your foot in it?" and gauge the acceleration before you spent "$40,000" on a car?
As for the ride quality, did you drive on roads similar to your normal driving routes? How long did your test drive last and did the other person(s) that make up "we" have a say in this decision?
I just find it hard to believe you did your due diligence here. This is your FIRST post on this board..did you even ask any of us what the deal was with this car? You couldn't tell the difference between the 2008 and the 2009 version in your test drive?
And finally, which Civic you talking about? The Si perhaps? Forgive me, but your post seems a little emotional (understandable for one experiencing such profound buyer's remorse) because your comparisons indicate you may not know as much about cars (and trucks) as you indicate.
I really didn't want to come off as being negative, but your post was a little over the top.

Playing the IPOD, I put my sound system up to anyones.
As for exposing his hand, I would say that the 1 post total, combined with the forum join date of OCT 2008, with today being the 2nd of October, makes his post suspect.

Yes, 3G, sorry. The radio is fine, its the speakers and/or build quality of the car. You get the right mix of music and it sounds like buzzer is going off in my door.

I read all the reviews about the 4G TL, talked to co-workers who owned prior TLs and other Acuras (2008 RL). My sister has owned an Intregra since 1991 (now with 240K miles). Test drove the car for 20 minutes. Unfortunately, the test drive was not close to my home or commute as the dealer is 15 miles west of me.
And not sure why others think I am a troll.
Would you like me to take pictures of this $40K POS? The first five #s of my VIN are 19UUA. Does that prove that I bought the car, or does that still make me a troll?

Exaggerating about what? Driving a co-worker's 2008 TL and liking the car???

- the car
- the dash with the MID set to show the TPMS readings
- the settings menu for the sound adjustments for the sound system
Also, tell us what kind of music and what source you are using when listening to the sound system.
It sounds to me like you are being a little over the top with your descriptions and I suspect that most of your problems stem from not having spent enough time with the car to customize the settings to your liking. Plus, most dealerships store vehicles with ridiculously high tire pressures, which can result in a choppy and stiff ride. Setting the tire pressures to be around the factory recommended tire pressures will likely alleviate that issue.
And while critical statements are always welcome, please make sure that you have enough information and have done enough research to properly back up what you are saying because most of what you are stating appears to be completely the opposite of what most respected auto journalists have said so far about the car.

I'm calling bullshit on this one. He sounds like someone that works for another automaker. I test drove an '09 TL and didn't experience any of the problems he's claiming, and I live in Michigan, which has some of the worse roads in the country. As for the sound system, I'm calling bullshit on that too, distortion at volume 7? Are you kidding me? This dude is beyond suspect!

lol...this post is funny...and more than obviously fake.
either the guy hates the 4g TL so much he makes shit up about it to make himself feel better, or as others have said, he's here to try and knock down TL sales because he's from another manufacturer.
hint hint BMW...lol

The person has 3 posts and obviously likes "other cars". Please show some pictures of your TL or I'll assume you are a ambitious troll hating the TL.
If no pictures: I am sure your real car is the city bus and on the weekends you enjoy riding your Huffy bicycle around town.

TLsuxz,
I'm really sorry to hear you are having such a terrible experience with your new TL. I can tell you that I bought a 2007 Type S on New Year's Day 2008. This car was purchased in August and turned back in to the dealer in October by the original purchaser.
I don't know how common this is, but I would suggest going back to the dealer and trying to get your money back. If you took delivery just a couple of days ago, I've got to think that there is some recourse you have with the dealership.
All I know is that I bought a Type S that was purchased and then turned back in to Acura.
I hope this helps...maybe you DO have some recourse.

Even after seeing the pictures - I still lack sympathy. Your concerns were so widespread and basic (things that you should have noted during your test drive); I feel like you didn't do any research.
I couldn't do that with a $40k car (or even with a $20k car). I still wish you the best of luck getting out of the deal.

I sorta feel badly for this guy, not because he didn't do his homework (which YES he should have done more) but because it almost seems like Acura didn't do theirs.
Even one complaint like this (post-sales) is too many. When someone spends $40K on a car, you want to be sure their misgivings are as few as possible if they even have any at all.
Sure there are things we all wish our car had after we buy it, but after seeing an 09 in person and reading as much as I have from others lookie-loos, buyers and reviews, it seems like Acura really, really put their heart into making this the best TL ever only to get almost there when someone stopped and and said "Now, add a big silver buck tooth and some tiny rims and we're done!"
Don't get me wrong... It's still mostly a reasonable value, but there's nothing compelling about it to rank it at the top of its class. Comparatively it's still a "nice" car, but with the price bump and the iffy redesign, I can only wonder how many other 3G owners are looking into jumping the Acura ship on their next car purchase?

I sympathize !!
I had tested used 3G TL and had observed that some of them felt teribble under power and some had crisp acceleration. I attributed that to the fact that since the ECU rememeber the driving pattern and uses that to use the shift points , may be owner of the slow ones drove like a granny and the other ones were more jack rabbits. However on a new TL with under 300 miles I feel that you may have a defective ECU or something like that.
Go to the delaership and test drive another TL and see if you see the same thing as your vehicle. If not then work the corrections through your salesman. And as for new car for the 1st 30 days any defects it is faster if you work with the service rep through your salesman rather than contacting the service advisor directly.
Good Luck with resolving the issue!!!
