Has anyone put red film on the outer edges of the taillights to cover chrome border?

I've seen tinted tails in many shades and blacked out tails and full red tails, but has anyone added red film just around the outer edges of the taillights to get rid of the chrome/silver border?

I would like to achieve the border less look where the red travels all the way to the paint of the car. Mine is 2014. I believe the tails differ a bit from the 09-11, but all in all, same question and process would apply.

If so, can you post pics and share details about the product used?

Thank you!

This is on a 2009. I used a generic red tint. Most members here tend to use the Lamin-X tint. It's about $60ish. Which comes already pre-cut - I had to cut around the reverse light and rear indicator.I got enough to do both tail lights for $15.

Very easy to do. Similar to vinyl wrapping something, or tinting (depending on which you get, either adhesive or non adhesive)

wow Zubby that looks great! The 09-11 tails have more chrome, but the 12-14 still have some chrome/pink on the edges.

Instead of red, i really thing black looks great on the tails

Bought some 20% tint from ebay and cut the red and clear parts out. What do you think?

Anybody know if these red films already come pre-cut from a vendor?

Also, can anybody chime in about the durability of this mod? Can it withstand high pressured water or an automatic car wash?

Black plasti dip is way better then the films, produces a clean professional look.

black plasti dip with clear coat produces a better more professional look then the film stuff which I hate! Try it instead, plasti dip can be removed with goo gone if you change ur mind<br/>

I left the chrome and reverse but Smoked the red lenses. I actually wanted to find maybe a pin stripe the right thickness to cover the chrome trim. Still gotta dip my emblems too.

instead of dipping the emblems why don't you try de-badging! Looks amazing IMHO! Nice car btw!

I might have to just dip the Acura logo n take the others off.
I'm looking for lots of ideas since I've only had the car since May. My Sister just bought a 2015 TLX.
I used to roll a Mazdaspeed 6.

So you eliminated your turn signals? Best of luck, I guess. I gotta wonder if your insurer will still provide you coverage. Hope you never have to find out.
