Hail damage, my poor baby...
Well, an absolute freak storm went thru Belvidere, IL this morning, and I was unlucky enough to be in a school parking lot waiting for my daughter to finish a band competition.
I've never experienced anything like it. I can only describe the pelting hail as being behind a solid bunker in paintball with about 50 guys shooting at you. It was deafening.
Here's the aftermath. She's not even 3 yet. I don't know what the insurance company will do. Its just a car, but I can't help being a bit depressed. My garage is a mess, my gf's son is in the navy and I've got all his stuff

Ouch! Are they calling it a total?

WHOLLY CRAP!! That sucks BIG TIME!! The last time I saw something that bad was when I was a kid and we were in Montreal! That was a violent hail storm and I have pics of my dad holding an orange on one hand and the hail in the other and being the same size. That damage was a lot worst but regardless, this is seriously damaged and I feel your pain.
I wish there was something I could do or say other than that I feel your pain....I really do.

Thx Weather. The report was half-dollar size hail. Insurance guy should be out on Monday. All my friends in-the-know think they'll total it. If that is the case I have no idea what I would replace her with. I don't want another TL with the TLX right around the corner

I have seen PDR fix worse with no signs of repair afterwards.

I feel your pain. My 2001 Acura CL Type S suffered the same fate. Luckily my 2014 TL was safe in the garage. I was not home at the time of the hail storm. Probably better off, as I would have cried witnessing the damage to my first baby.
I've never experienced this before, so I'll have to wait and see what my insurance company (State Farm) will do. Will be contacting them on Monday.

Wow!! Feel your pain. There is a guy in Rockford area that does paintless dent removal. He is one of the best. I have seen his work. Let me know if you want more info.

Thanks I may need it. A co-worker's buddy is in the insurance gig and he said they usually quote the damage around $100/dent. There are a LOT of dents, I haven't tried counting. I would imagine it'd be cheaper to just get a new hood and trunk, but the side's aren't as banged up, and the roof would have to be repaired. I can't imagine the total cost would be 40% of the car's value, I think that's usually what they go by when figuring out a total

PDR will fix that. i know someone that had hail damage on his EVO and insurance covered it. PDR fixed ALL of the dings to the tune of $1500.
PDR charges by the panel not by the ding. the variable being how large the ding is and the exact location (curved vs flat body panel).
i had PDR done to my TL...the range was $110 for 4 dings on my trunk (flat surface), to 4 dings on my front DS fender at $360 (curved surface). they were all about an inch in size to subtle larger indentations from a tree limb that fell on the car. my TL is now ding free.

It also depends on the location of the ding. I had PDR done and the car looked like brand new, except for one ding that happened directly on the angle of the front right wheel well, where curve of the fender transitions to the vertical of the wheel well.
On a side note, my brother watched over $9,000 damage occur to his brand new Suburban. It was too much for PDR, so they had to peel off the roof like a sardine can, weld on a new one, etc. Looks like brand new and not a squeak or rattle anywhere.

Living here in TX, we get it a lot worse than that. I had a Volvo T5 that had 11K in hail damage, you can try PDR just depends on how deep, etc.
It should be fine after repair. I have Allstate Insurance and they've never disputed any hail claim, and I've had a few. It's under comprehensive clause as weather related.

Does bring back some memory of my old car... Had similar hail damaged, washed the one year old damaged car really clean and circled every single dimple. Insurance crunched their numbers, then cut me a check. Took it to CarMax, the hail damage was considered as normal wear...adding up the CarMax figure and the insurance payment out came a number higher than my original purchase price...sold that car on the spot :-D

Thanks, my cousin runs a body shop not far from me and is well versed in PDR. He already ordered a bunch of the parts and should hopefully start working on it next week. Probably 2 weeks without the car. Now I need to start looking for a rental

I like her stock No way I could lower her living in IL even if I wanted to, our roads are just about the worst in the nation
Good luck, I have to imagine if your CL looks anything like my TL you'll be getting a check for a new car

I can relate to this, the roads are horrendous here in the NYC area. Especially after the miserable winter we had..
Good luck with the repairs.

Thanks for the support guys. She goes in May 1st to begin repairs. I started working on my son's 2001 Lexus ES 300 last night. It will be my DD while Angie gets repaired. Its sat in my driveway since December. Battery was shot, and it needs brakes, but it's not a bad driver even with 200K miles
