Got an airbag recall with 3 months left on my lease, WHY CAN'T I JUST GIVE IT BACK?!

Seriously, this is mind blowing,

My car is going to sit and collect dust in a shop for 3 months while I putt around in a piece of shit, completely base model, Chrysler 200 AND I have to pay fully loaded TL money for it.

Everyone is losing, this isn't advantageous to anyone. I call the lease maturation center and they told me I'm obligated to keep paying for the car during the term of the lease. Aren't they obligated to provide me with what I'm paying for?!

Sorry for the rant, but this just insane.

so when do you draw the line? 3 months? what about the people who are 4, 5, 6 months out? why not just let everyone return their lease because of this. not bashing just giving you a different perspective.

Nah you're definitely right, but the dealership is telling me that it'll take about 3 months for the parts to come in. I'm probably never going to see this car again.

I did, but they told me they can't do anything about the lease because it's a "different department". That basically the same thing every other department told me. They'd gladly put me into a new TLX right away, but I have 0 desire to do so.

If you're considering another Acura you may be able to get the dealer to waive your remaining payments.. If they agree, just make sure that they don't roll your remaining payments into your new lease payments.

They did offer that to me, but I have 0 interest in the TLX, what a snoozefest.

So why are you ranting? They offered to put you in a TLX so they tried to help you out just not to your liking..

How is that helping me out? They've been trying to put me in a TLX for a year, I don't want a TLX. I want to continue using the car I'm paying for and when my lease is over move on. Right now I'm paying $500 a month to drive a car that's worth about 1/3 of that. That's why I'm ranting.

This thread is whack. I get you don't want a TLX. You want what you're paying for. I get the TLX is not what you desire but it is better than a chrysler anything. So why not get them to give you a TLX tech or advance for 3 months. That's comparable to value in terms of lease payments. Just take your lease back and don't get the airbag fixed and take your chances and turn it in when the lease is done probably plus wear/tear.

I don't think it's possible. The OP means they tried to put him in a TLX on a longer term lease, like another 36 months.

For the OP situation, I understand it sucks but 3 months is not bad. Time to shop for something else and that should be more exciting and dealing with them if it was me.

Take the rental and shop for a new car.

Can you go shop for your new car and have the dealer take care of your last remaining payments?

Let them do the recall after your lease expires

If they gave me a TLX for 3 months, I wouldn't be complaining. They gave me base model Chrysler 200. That's why I'm pissed.

I could, but its kinda serious. If it was something that had a chance of leaving me stuck on the road that'd be one thing. But have my face ripped up by an airbag, it's not worth the risk.

I am shopping around, but at the end of the day it's money out of my pocket. They'll just roll that difference into my new lease.

Have to admit it's a bit ridiculous, considering they are paying 2X what you are paying for the Acura car ($1000/mo on average).

A contract is a contract however.

I doubt Acura is paying that much for the rentals. I am sure there is a contract in place with a much reduced rate for Acura. I speculate 40/50% of that.

I'm pretty sure the contract also said that I'd be paying to drive a TL. If I wanted a Chrysler I would've flown to Italy and stabbed myself in the dick.

I'm sure Acura does get a discount, but I'm also pretty certain they're paying at least 500 a month for this.

any chance of asking for a bit of an upgrade on the rental car? Tell acura - what you drive for the next 3 months has a big influence on what you lease/buy next?

once you say - you are for sure not getting another honda/acura after this lease is up - doubt they will do anything for you

I had a Chrysler 200 for a few days - than got a ford fusion - not as nice as the TL - but it is tolerable - drives more like a honda than the Chrysler .

my daughter for her Honda - got a Nissan Sentra rental - w / only 3000 miles on it - probably a nicer car than her Honda

Right now the rental company has its whole fleet out. I'll try back in a couple of weeks.

i wouldnt even bother with a rental if i had a lease going on.. you pay for renting a car.. why dump 400+ a month down the drain to drive a chrysler.. no car enterprise gives you will make up for that.

You need to call your Acura dealer, not Enterprise. It's all arranged through the Acura dealer. They will probably need to use a different rental car agency. There's Hertz, Avis, etc. etc.

Too many airbag recalls.... the rental companies can only handle so many. Too many cars need to be rented...
