Good place to get oil change?
Where do you guys get your oil changed? I was thinking of going to the dealer but I bet it will be expensive. Any good places that do a good job and their prices are not expensive? I am in Los Angeles.

Our local dealer is actually around $20 cheaper than the drive through places and always has fresh donuts/cookies and various favors of coffee/cappuccino/hot cocoa. :-)

i usually do my own oil changes at home, spend about 35 dollars on oil and filter. acura wont skimp on the quality of oil they put in there cars, but i think those local shops do. if your local shops cool with it, buy your own oil and filter and then take it to them, throw them like 10 to 15 bucks and they should do it.

You need to ask friends, family, or neighbors where they get their oils changed. Find a good independent shop that people recommend and stick with them. I just don't trust oil chains shops.

My dealer give free oil changes for 4 years. I bring my own oil(royal purple) and get the free labor and oil filter. My other cars I just bring my oil and filter and take to local mechanic and pay $20 for labor.

My dealer is also of the "free oil changes for longer than you are likely to actually keep your car" variety. Plus they have bagels.

Shame you're in LA. If you buy your TL from Jay Wolfe Acura in Kansas City, you get free oil changes for the life of the car!

All Acura dealers around here charge between $27 to $35 for an oil change. If acura dealers charge too much where you live go to a honda dealer should be cheaper. Also always look on dealers websites from service coupons most of the time they will have them under service specials.

Mitch - have you had good experiences with them? I went to Santa Monica Acura and, admittedly only dealt with the sales folks (not service, my gf's bro was interested in leasing) and didn't get a good vibe from them. I bought my 12 TL in San Diego while on vacation but I don't know if I want to drive down there every time I need a service. Looking for a good Los Angeles dealer service shop.

Best place is always your own garage. Costs about $30, takes less than 30 minutes of your time, and knowing that it was done right. If you must take it somewhere I would stay away from the "10 minute" chain oil change places. I'd prefer to have the job done right rather than fast.

True, but if you bring your own oil and filter, what is there to do wrong? Acutally I have no problem with the quick lube as I can stand there and watch what they do. Most dealers wont let you in the shop, so youdon't know what they are doing.

I just completed the first oil change in a 2012 MDX and 2013 RDX. The MDX was 2 quarts lower than normal (only had ~3000 miles on it) and the RDX was 1 quart lower (~3000 miles as well). I thought it was burning oil through the break in period. Apparently, some other members had this problem as well and one of them, who spoke with an Acura SA, says it wasn't necessary (and still isn't) to do a complete fill-up, so it wasn't full to begin with. My advice is save yourself some money and get that satisfaction of knowing that you did it right.

I never thought it was necessary to check the factory fill because I was going to change it after 3000 miles. I just didn't think it was going to be as bad as it was Lesson learned.
