Arrow Gone, for now...

Well, I tried to wait...and wait...and wait some more to build some excitement for the upcoming TLX. But I just couldn't hold out any longer with no glimmer of hope for a render, new spy shot, or anything remotely exciting. So, I picked up my new ride today. 2013 S4 fully loaded. I may be back to the Acura family in a few years if the AWD TLX draws my interest. Loved being a part of this forum. You guys take care!

Funny I did same thing, but went to an A6. As much as I love Acra I am digging my Audi, if it's reliability holds up I can't see me coming back.

That sums it up for me too, man. I kept hanging on, but I'm definitely liking the new ride. That A6 is so sharp!

Enjoy your S4 - it seems like a lot of people are losing patience waiting for the TLX.

Congrats and enjoy your ride.

I must be the only idiot that hasn't gone to the Dark Side after waiting as long as I have. LOL.

Thanks, i am digging it. Only thing that sucks is the electric power steering, it is too light and has no feedback an no on center feel, but the ride and power train are awesome.

I really hope Acura is reading these forums and seeing people jumping ship...and quite frankly...good for them!! Their obsession with keeping everything hush hush in the hope its going to create a buzz is doing the opposite. Its not surprising, Acura is doing everything ass-backward when it comes to marketing these days. I am about to do the same as well, my patience is wearing thin and unless they create a home run for the TLX and start giving us something to be excited about, I'll just take my business elsewhere and Audi is where I am leaning as well. You know, Acura is not in a position to tease and keep their loyal fan hostage like this....they need all the help they can get and yet they seem to just ignore their fan base....Not just in ignoring all the suggestions we give them about their bland design but also some of their engine choice (in the ILX for example)

atruedsgb....CONGRATS MAN!! That is a fine looking Audi and let me say, I am some envious of you and KeithL. Last year we also lost Birdyfeet to Audi....Wake up Acura....Wake up!!

Nice cars gentlemen! I am going to exercise just a little more patience and hold out just a little bit more hope that Acura does in fact read these forums and sees the defections that are occuring and does something about it. Audi is certainly my next choice though.

OP, congratz on the S4!

Meanwhile, what's Acura doing? Trying to promote their glamorous 150HP ILX and the boring FWD RLX.

Congrats on buying the new S4. The Audi S-division is a serious high performance one.

Just make sure you also buy the extended warranty if you're planning to keep the Audi for longer than 4 years.

Congrats on the new car. I don't really think the TLX is going to be a competitor to the S4. I think the S4 is a step up and unless it turns into a garage queen I doubt you will be back. Let us know how the new car is working for you. After my wife's horrible experience with VW and the 35+ miles to my nearest Audi dealer, I can't really consider it.

Will do. People are definitely losing patience. They could at least throw out a rendering or teaser image to keep people at bay.

The powertrain is really what sold me. I agree that the steering doesnt give much feedback, but Dynamic mode does help to tighten it up a bit.

Thanks man. I also hope Acura is doing more than just perusing the forums here. As heavy as the segment's competition has become, I surely can't think of a reason to be so damn tight-lipped.

Thanks! I hope the patience pays off when it's finally revealed. Are you jumping on the first model year? I figure the awd version would probably be delayed until the following MY.

Thanks! Right, meanwhile all we're asking for is a teaser at least.

Thanks! Sure thing, I traded mine in at Jim Ells Audi in Marietta, GA with 46,204 miles. Due to some wheel reconditioning they had to do (curb rash) and minor rock chips but nothing major, I was given $22k even on the trade, leaving me with almst $4k of positive equity. The TL held its value extremely well.

Thanks! Due to work travel I haven't driven it much yet, but it's definitely been a joy to punch so far. It only had 4,604 miles on it when I bought it and they CPOd it to 100k. Doubt i will keep it past the factory warranty anyway, but I've heard some of the post-warranty horror stories.

Thanks! Although my driving has been limited, I don't think they are too far off from each other. With regard to power delivery, they both get there pretty quickly but just in different manners (instant power vs. winding the TL up to the redline). Audi's materials seem nicer, but I actually kind of prefer the TL's interior layout with regard to ease-of-use and intuitive feel). I'll try to do a more detailed write up once I get more seat time and take this thing around some bends! Now it's just sitting at the airport...

Maybe on the S4, but not the A6, dynamic mode steering a still too light.

Congratulation, although it's a last year for the s4, it's always a nice car.

Also i can't wait. Why Acura don't make any kind of teasing ? this can encourage some people like me to wait few months.

I think i m going back with infiniti. Audi is too expensive for me. Other choices are lexus IS350 and cadillac ATS

Ya, my patience wore out the first time a I saw an RLX and MDX in person. That's when I realized they didn't look all that good and decided to jump ship. I had an 04 tl, and it was growing old. I hate the 4g TL, something about the look just doesn't do it for me, especially the ones before the mid model year refresh.

I picked up a Cadenza. Ill post some pics soon!

Another poster and I wrote this before: if Acura releases a teaser pic ~1yr prior, it's because it wants buyers to hold off on a purchase. Acura knows this model is exciting and worth the wait.

If Acura does NOT release a teaser pic, it's b/c they don't want this model to deter people from buying its existing models. In other words, there's nothing innovative or exciting.

For example: the 4G TL 6MT was teased ~1 yr prior to its release. This model garnered plenty of good reviews against its competitors. The upcoming NSX as well, lots of teaser pics/videos before its 2015 (?) release.

That the TLX has only a few camouflaged shots tells me the TLX may be a disappointment. I hope I'm wrong, otherwise my next vehicle may be an Audi or Porsche.

The gf's patience ran out too, she wanted to see TLX, but the dealer gave her a great deal on a 14 RDX AWD Tech so at least she is staying Acura.

Interesting. I'll have to watch out for this next time I try a S4/5 or A6. IMHO, the 4G TL's steering is also too light with very little feel. Even the 1G RDX had better steering feel than the 4G TL's.

It is all this move to Electric Power Steering to save MPGs, but what a bad trade off in steering feel. I have read that GM has done a good job with it i the new CTS. I don't recall my 4G TL being too light, but I had a AWD TL. My 11 M37S had good old hydraluic steering and I loved it.

I hope Acura is listening to the likes of us. Does anyone know if Acura reads these forums?? I certainly hope so.

I think the A4 releases next year, but the S4 probably won't be out until the following year. At least we've seen some renderings of what they will look like, and I generally like their direction (similar, evolutionary styling and weight savings).

I don't think I've seen a Cadenza on the road yet. Now that you have one, are you noticing more and more of them on the road? Please share some pics!

That was definitely one of my concerns, waiting so long only to be disappointed and possibly miss out on a good deal with an S4 and the options I wanted.

Sadly I have also recently said goodbye to Acura and traded in my 4G TL. I've for so long just wanted a little taste of what the TLX might have to offer and with no new information showing up, I decided to purchase a Lexus GS 350 a month ago.

Cross shopped against the A6 and 535, and decided on the GS and I am loving it! Much improved over the previous generation.

So the gf just got her 14 AWD RDX Tech and while it is not a bad ride I can see that Acura is on a bad course. No surprises from what other have complained about in RDX threads, but really, no power outlet in rear cargo area or back seats, that is just lame. My A6 has a power outlet in the trunk. And I get the market segment for the RDX, but they really need at least the Honda Accord blind spot and some LED tail lights would be nice. I guess they can be lazy with RDX since it sells so well, but sleeping at the wheel too long and the Koreans will pass them by. And it woudl have been nice to have SH-AWD in this RDX. I n=know it save some money, but really, I thought they had gotten costs of SH-AWD down a bunch so that it should not have added much over the AWD they have in the car now. And chalk up another EPS implementation I do not like, the RDX steering is too light, but at least has better on center and feedback than my A6 does.

Glad you're enjoying the new ride. I would love to see a stat regarding the number of people that have moved to another brand for the same reason.

Great move for you guys with the Audi's. I also am getting a little tired of waiting for more news on the TLX. I test-drove the RLX and MDX and neither one said "Buy me!" I have Lexus ES and Kia Cadenza on short list but would need an outstanding deal to go Lexus and am still shaky about Kia reliability but their value factor is what the TL used to be. Hope to make a decision by the 1st quarter of next year at the latest.

Well....I made that move about 19-20 months ago and bought an S4. They are really fun cars. Then again, they also MSRP for low-high $50s, depending on how you option them up (mine was mid $50s with Premium Plus, torque vectoring, B&O stereo, DSG).

It's currently sitting at the dealer's. The MMI doesn't work right (too wrong to list, including a flaky NAV system) and the drivetrain sounds like it's about to implode when going around a corner (quattro binding?).

So, doing a direct comparison to my former TL (I've had 3 of them), I begin to appreciate what it can do, for a lot less money. It's about 95% of an S4 for 15% less money.

Audi dealer is making noises like it may be time to approach Audi about a buyback. That's a first, given dealers and manufacturer's loath having to do a buyback. But, right now they're awaiting word from Audi HQ about either a fix, or at least how to proceed.

The S4 isn't the worst car I've owned, but it's closer to the worst than it is the best (which happened to be my '10 TL SH AWD).

I have been hitting this forum some time now waiting and waiting for an update on the TLX. Right now I have a 2010 RDX and I really wanted to get the new TLX when it came out.
I too got a great deal on a S4. My dealer located a 2014 Audi S4 for me in Minneapolis and he is giving me what I want for my RDX. I've tried to wait as long as I can but I don't think I can pass up this deal. I am scheduled to pick it up on Friday as my S4 is being transported actually today via flat bed to Des Moines.

Why the move?

I need the utility - most likely moving in the near future, possibly out of state. The TL has been a great car for the most part, but its lack of utility is killing me with my current weekend activities

The TL's lack of utility is probably its biggest negative. I was able to solve quite a bit of my issues by installing a roof rack, since the trunk will not hold an adult mountain bike.

If only the rear seats would fold back and the trunk space is flat.

A TSX Wagon w/SH-AWD and 6MT would be awesome. Wishful thinking though.
