Front window failure

On Sunday, I went out to crack my windows, as we're finally getting some hot weather. The back windows rolled down easily, as they are supposed to. The front windows, though, would only move about an eighth of an inch before stopping. As soon as I saw this, I realized that when I used the remote to open all the windows the day before, the fronts stayed up then as well.

I managed to hit the switch back and forth enough that I got the passenger side moving, and it seemed to work fine after that. The driver's side, though, I couldn't get working...just moved a tiny bit, and with the slightest "clunk" at that. I didn't even help when I put pressure on the window.

I'm thinking it might be from some glue that might have gotten in there when I detinted the fronts (I don't know that there's glue in there, but it's all I can think of). I pulled the car in the garage, and a few hours later, when the car was cool, the window worked just fine. Clearly heat was, if not the culprit, at least involved in the problem

Has anyone else seen anything like this. Does my glue suspicion make any sense, and if so, any thoughts on what I can do about it?
