LOL. I did this one on the floor upside down underneath the door. Next time pop out the clear plastic piece so you can use two fingers to remove the bulb. Rather bold of you to remove the whole thing? By the way, be careful with this one. Some how my courtesy door light shorted the multiplex. It took the dealer two days to get a new one and install it. And they even put the housing back incorrectly for the courtesy light. Don't touch any metal to metal when it's connected!

Ah c'mon, don't do that. Just remove the clear plastic so that you can "pinch" and squeeze the bulb out with two fingers, and re-insert it in the same fashion. You might be embarrassed once you do it and find out how easy it really is?
Yo Ice, what are you putting in?

Bmode - Yea it was rather bold, I was scared the whole time but still being very careful.
I putting in blue LED lights and illuminating my step well blue too. I hope it doesn't clash too much white the white dashboard lights, I'll post pictures of it when I'm done.
I can always change them so Im not afraid, just wanted to try it so I can say I did.

No the bulb is straight. What he means is that the light shines the floor only..and doesn't really sign the door sills or anything like that.
It's gonna be impossible to get 90 degree light replacements on those, the best you can do is the stick an led on the door panel.

I was thinking about replacing those bulbs with this

I think about this LED initially but didn't use it. I use 5-led instead.
You know sometimes when you plug it in, it doesn't work and you just turn it around. And if this led light up only when it facing the plastic piece then it becomes useless.

Actually having a few issues with the 158 bulbs. I put it in and it didn't work. It seem to fit just fine..soo...
I'll see if its a bulb issue or a multiplex issue like bmode mentioned. I hope its not the later..

Iceman52489 - any update on your issue? I purchased the following for my courtesy lights.
http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/D...68086-1-2.html
I removed my courtesy light today by removing the clear plastic piece and proceeded to push out the existing bulb by using a chopstick. When attempting to put the new LED bulb in I managed to get a flicker or two when it came in contact with the bottom two connectors, however the LED bulb stopped flickering as I tried to squeeze the LED bulb into the socket. Initially I thought the LED bulb might have stopped working and switched it out for the passenger side LED bulb that was still in its packaging. After this failed, I squeezed in the factory bulb into the socket and still no light????? The passenger light appears to be functioning just fine as well as the remaining lights in the car.
Anybody know what in the world is going on? I was extremely careful in changing the bulb by using just my two fingers. I also switched out my vanity and license plate lights to LEDs prior to working on the courtesy lights.

djtanveer - everything appears to be working except for that one damn driver side light. lolz. It shouldn't be a fuse issue? b/c my passenger courtesy side still works? Man I am never touching anything electrical on this car.
What is the recommended way to insert the bulb into the housing? I'm literally lying on the floor looking upwards trying to place the bulb into the socket. The outer metal sleeves holding the bulb are such a PITA since it is always in the way. Do guys recommend yanking out the entire plastic housing?
Thanks!

where is this open/close sensor located, and how do you check it with a volt/ohm meter?
#26
Burning Brakes
it is the little button that is pressed when you open/close the door, its located in the door jamb and it has the rubber cover over it. not sure if you need a volt meter. if your step light doesnt turn on or the MID doesn't show an open door then you know that there's a problem.
