Hello, contrary to my username. I have actually put a deposit down on an 09 Black Acura TL. Found it in really good condition, only concern is the engine compartment. It looks different than the ones ive seen on google. Does anyone know if the dealer did something shady potentially? Or past owner? Or is this expected for a 09 car with 200k kilometres on it. Specifically the emblem is what i noticed as strange first. I just wanna make sure it wasnt tampered with or im not missing anything from this photo. If all checks out i will take delivery of it before Friday. Thanks

 

looks like the previous owner(s) have decided to paint the top plate/emblem.


if you are worried, then you should have the car inspected by a third party mechanic who will tell you everything that is wrong with the car...a pre-purchase inspection

 

The paint on the plate in the middle tends to fade and chip over time. It happened to mine. But it's easy to remove and paint.

Here it looks like someone painted it poorly combined with the engine bay being recently cleaned.

That "engine plate paint" will chip over time. It is normal. the guy may not have done a good job re-painting it.

 

if its an AWD model make sure it's not consuming oil
