Edmunds Conducts a Full Test of the 2009 Acura TL
#41
Maybe when the Camaro comes out, i'll test drive it. I wasn't only talking about running light to light, i was talkin about taking off, and seeing the pack get smaller and smaller as I drive away on the expressway. Anyway, It has been Raining here in Philly for the last few days, and the leaves are all over, so I took a shortcut on the way home yesterday through a place called Fairmount Park (winding, curvy, uphill, downhill roads), so I punched the "G" all the way through the road and it held great, no slipping, no handling problems, stopped at Stop Sign and turned right (or punched it) into a leaf covered road without any problems, To be fair when I test drove the SH AWD last week, it was wet out but no slippery leafy road, and it held its own, maybe its me but, the G feels way more powerful, its more roomy, and i'll give you the ride on the TL, but thats only on older roads, newer paved roads are like riding on air. I know you are saying "Why Are You On this Site", but i been reading this site everyday since Late September, I Was interested in The G37, and when it didnt come out, I started lookin at the TL, and was one of the few at first who actually thought the car looked nice, I test drove the base tl and liked it, then while waiting for the AWD TL, which still isnt for sale here, only for Test Drive, I Really Didnt notice much difference, so when the G37 arrived, I decided to jump on it, HEY, some people like vanilla and some Chocolate, you all have to admit the looks are better, and i think the performance is better, and I just wanted to share because I took exception to being called a light to light idiot, I like speed and the G wins over the TL, and I cannot wait to be at the light with a TL SH AWD next to me, hopefully he is an idiot like me, and we will see what happens, PLUS (and I know I am Rambling on here) but I am one of many who beleive and after owning a 2003 Maxima, a 2005 Altima SER, a 2005 G35, and now a 2009 G37, I believe that Nissan underestimates their PONIES

The only thing that the TL is a little bigger in is the shoulder room, 58.2/55.6, headroom is bigger in the G, 39.1/38.4, legroom 43.9/42.5,and the TL is a smidgeon bigger in hip room 55.7/55.1, and the weight LOL 3,957 to 3,791. The last time I checked most people don't go to work on a track, so I'll take my chances taking off on a straight line, and the little I may have to slow down around curves (even though I never felt the need to, the G holds its own), still isnt enough for the TL to catch up. This is my 2nd Gx, the only reason I even thought about a TL, was because of all th hype, as I said in my other posts, I test drove both TL's base and awd, felt no difference in speed between the 2, and the handling and ride in the sh awd wasn't enough to impress me, so when I am driving past the test track that sound you will hear will just be my horn saying Hi to you as I go Whizzing by

Who gives a flyin crap about the G37? This thread is about Edmunds test of the 2009 Acura TL. ...and this forum is all about the 4G TL. I hate these stupid trolls who just come in here and hijack these threads to talk about things that are totally irrelevant.

Rear legroom: TL - 36.2, G37 - 34.9
Rear shoulder room: TL - 56.2, G37 - 55.2
Rear legroom: TL - 36.2, G37 - 34.9
Rear Hiproom: TL - 54.8, G37 - 53.7
Also, the 3791lb is for the RWD G37. I don't think there's a G37x yet (not sure on this). But the G35x is about 200lb more than G35. Add 200lb to 3791 and you have a 4000lb G37x.

no kidding...lol...I mean if you like your car, nobody will stop you, but do so in your own forum. What's the point of trash talking other cars besides pissing off other people? I guess doing so makes some people happier?

My friend, you are highly misinformed. A G35 first needs to be capable of outperforming a TL-S on a track before it can out handle a TL SH-AWD. I don't see how the ride and handling of the TL SH-AWD didn't impress you when it rides smoother than a G35 and handles better, yet the G35 ride and handling did impress you. Compared to the new TL, the G35 still has more of a boy-racer image. It has a rough-ride, a course engine, inferior interior material and build-quality, and track performance that is mid-pack. Sure, it has great straight-line acceleration, but so does a Mustang GT. My grandma can go fast in a straight line also. Would you rather have a Dodge Challenger SRT8 that can go 0-60 in 4.8 seconds or a BMW 335i that does it in 5.0?

Wow, u still don't get the point. It doesn't matter anyways b/c when in hell are u rly going street racing around corners, or at a track, get real. Most of use do stoplight drags, and highway drags, and occasional drag strip races. And when we dyno it about how much power ur putting down. Good Try though

And those weight numbers haven't even included the many options/packages available on the G.
lol..so..we buy a 4-door luxury sedan..but don't care about back seat space...interesting..may be you bought a coupe? and wow...straightline performance? My first choice would be the Pontiac G8 assuming you need four doors.
