Double Phonebook Entries

The last few times I have tried to import the contacts info from my iPhone 3GS in my '09 TL w/ Tech Package, I am getting duplicate entries (in other words, each contact is showing up twice in the phonebook). I am deleting the existing phone book from the TL before the import, but strangely I get duplicate entries. Has happened each of the last 3 times I tried importing the phonebook info. I am doing the import using the Bluetooth connection.

Has anyone experienced this problem? Any suggestions to get rid of the duplicates?

No -- just internal iPhone memory.

I get multiple entries for contacts that i have more than one number for. Work, mobile, hme for example. The problem is, the display doesnt give the level of detail as to WHICH number is listed in the call history screen. Dont like this shortcoming!

I had the problem with duplicate entries in my 2009 Tech and I tried a couple of times. The last time I deleted the phone book from the car, turned my car off and then removed the battery from the phone for a few minutes. This apparently hard rebooted the phone, I turned the phone back on and then imported the phone book from the phone into the car and this time there were no duplicate entries.

Alas ... you can't remove an iPhone's battery (to my knowledge).

I have an iPhone 3G and when I first "synced" the contacts, I ended up with double entries. I was able to track it down to having multiple address books, one for my personal email account and one for my work Exchange email account. I just turned off the Exchange contacts, deleted the data imported to the car, and re-synced the iPhone with just the personal address book.

Also, for an entry that has multiple numbers (home, work, etc) they show up as one entry for the person, but I can choose from the different numbers.
