Does anybody have experience with 3rd party Heated Wiper Blades?

I am currently being hit hard by the record-setting Boston snowfall, and my wiper blades keep getting caked with ice, which in 12 degree weather is a pain in the ass to clean off. A Google search shows two companies that offer aftermarket heated windshield wipers:

Everblade

Thermalblade

Does anybody have either of these wipers on your car and can offer and reviews or recommendations/criticisms? It seems like a great add-on (if it works). Thanks!

sammy -

We have gotten a lot of snow and ice of late, but is it that bad where are you really are considering these?

I would offer two alternate suggestions as follows:

Flip your wiper arms up and/or take you wiper blades indoors with you when you know it is going to snow. Flipping up the arms is easy. Taking your blades indoors is doable but likely a pain in the butt.
Go to a self serve car wash and rinse / de-ice your entire car.

Over and above this I have no experience with those heated wipers, but do have plenty of experience with Boston weather -

why not lift the wiper arms up and put a tarp on the windshield? That way you lift the tarp/snow off the car and don't have to worry about snow/ice.

+1. I use a frost guard and flip up wipers.
