Ive loved all three gen models from the start. On the 4th the back end grew on my, but the front end is U-G-L-Y and looks just cheap with the grille. Maybe for 2011 they can change out the grille, so when it goes on sale next year around the time im looking I would jump on it. Even painting or the aftermarket grilles don't do it for me. Just my 2 cents, but they missed out on alot more sales with that front end.

I just think the design doesn't stand out like the 3G's do. They look like so many others on the road-not enough uniqueness.

I really thought it'll grow on me like any new cars, but it's in the same category as the Pontiac Vibes and Chevy Avalance. More I see it, more I cringe...

Well I must admit, I truly disagree with most of the post here. Persoanlly I Love the new TL. In fact I recently purchased one because I loved it so much. Acura has made a bold statement with this new design. Nothing on the market looks like it therefore I give it 5 stars for originality. And oh yeah, just get in one and let the SH-AWD do the rest. Be Easy AZ Family!

Just got my new 2010 sw-awd w. tech 3 days ago. To be honest, I didn't like the new design back in 2009 when they came out. I kept looking at it once in a while, started to get used to it, to finally really like it :-). The basic version is missing something, mags are plain, etc. but the awd-tech version is really nice. I also had hard time to choose the color, hesitating with Mayan or Grigio, finally opted for Grigio. Interior is not a problem, I love it ! Another happy buyer :-)

After the classy, timeless lines on the 3rd gen TL (one of the best looking sedans ever IMHO), the 4th Gen TL is a disgrace to me. Maybe they will pretty them up when I am ready for another one, but after seeing and driving the 4th Gen I will be looking elsewhere (Lexus IS maybe) when the time comes.

I had been counting on replacing my aging 2g tl with the 4g until I saw it. The interior is great and driving it sin't bad, feels a little heavy, but I could not bring myself to buy it because of the exterior. To make matters worse I have even seen a new Saturn that looks to have a similar exterior design as the TL.

I really wish they would have stuck with a more sporty design like the 3g had.

I love the exterior, aside from the awful paint on the grill. I had mine painted to match the rest of the car CBP. I love the overall look of the car and the fact that it's not dull like every other car on the road. I love my 4th gen TL!

All I can say is that the front end got hit with an ugly stick! I had planned on upgrading, but there is now way I am going to drive a car that looks that

What were they thinking?

GM is going down the tubes because they based their products on exterior with no interior. appearance vs. substance.
(2009 TL shawd tech) delivered 1/6/09 in perfect codition as of 2/1/10
I had tried nitpick and I am still amazed!

saturn is about gone whereas honda/acura is the most reliable and also will be moving up the list due to gas pedal stupidity. instead of saturn try TUCKER or maybe FORD EDSEL.

doesn't anyone who paints the brushed aluminum (not Chrome like so called experts who demonstrate their ignorance of the product describe it) understand that: "
1- you can't stone chip bare metal
2- it doesn't rust!

Dislike the design. Grill and trunk trim seem to be after thoughts once the aluminum parts were made and they figured out that the parts would not meet up with bumper to make clean gaps and just slap the piece of plastic on. I like the TSX much better.

The grill is not metal, its fricking plastic. I agree plastic does not rust, you get a point for that one. Whoa!! they had you sold that it was metal.

I haven't been back here for a while, guess I didn't have much to say about my Acuras or any of their new products. The design of the new TL is why I purchased my 08 TL Type S back in August of 08. The wife and I went shopping for a car to replace her 05 RL this month. She didn't even consider any new Acuras. She says she doesn't like the "Smiley Face" design of the grills and with the TL you have it front and rear. Anyway, she drove and loved the new Cadillac CTS 3.6. So we are now a CTS and 08 TL family. I love my 08 Type S!

It's been a while since I posted. I've tried to like it but that grill just isn't going to grow on me. Trying to hold out for the 2011 TL or 2011 RL but have started to look at the 2010 MB E350 coupe.now THAT'S one purty automobile...Acura needs to step up

I like everything except how the top of the grill goes into the hood and doesn't fit with the headlights.

the new TL looks like a boat. similar to what nissan did with the previous gen Maxima. Nissan learned and the latest gen Max is much nicer interior and exterior than Acura's new TL boat car thing. We're going to have to wait for the next gen TL which will be about 4-5 yrs from now. At which point if it goes up again in size we'll all be saying how nice the TSX is.

When its stock it doesn't look that sexy. But once you get a RonJon Grille, get ur headlights hooked up by JnC, get 20% tint all around, BlueBat Overlays on ur taillights and headlights, 2 inch drop on Tein Coilovers, and Paint the rear lip same as body color, and throw in a Takeda Intake and Progress Sway Bar.... It turns out pretty clean.. Hey thats what I did LOL

Purchased my 4th TL since 2001 last week - this time a WDP/graphite Tech model. Was never a fan of the styling, but I think it's growing on me. The 3rd gen looks a bit dated in comparison. Kickin' stereo - especially with the addition of a second subwoofer (a bit of overkill).

Acura TL Interior

We are a four Acura family (2004 MDX, 2007 RDX, 2008 TL, 2010 TL) I have watched the evolution of Acura interiors/exteriors over the past 6 years and I must say that I actually do like my new TL. I think Acura should, however, contract with Ronjon for his 2010 grille and reduce the amount of exterior chrome.

Liked the car a lot except the front grill when it first came out. I guess I was still enjoying my 2007 TLS as well as its look.

Fast forward 1-2 years, every tom dick and harry has the 2004-2005 TL - it was time for a change and I re-looked at the 4G TL. Slowly but surely, the grill grew on me and I found myself looking for 4Gs on the road - that is if I can find one.

What I find strange is if I look at my 2007 TL-S by itself in my driveway, it's an amazing looking car.

When I look at the 4G, my 3G "feels outdated". I have gotten the same comments from friends.

Exactly, The same reason the 2G TL looked dated a year or so after the 3G (and after people stopped complaining about the style of the 3G). They did go overboard with the grille, but I'm sure its changed a bit in the MMC.

I actually thought the 4g was ugly when it first came out. I looked at it and wondered when it would transform like a transformer. Next thing I know, it starts to grow on me and I ended up purchasing one this month. I love everything about the car, including the looks. The grill doesn't look as bad in person, especially when I stand in front of the car.

I really had a great experience with my 2001 TL. While the 2001 TL wasn't exactly stylish it was hideous. I'm not nuts about the rear but the front is just plain fugly. I may buy a new car this week and if I do, I doubt it will be a 2010 TL although I might just wait a couple of years to see if Acura redesigns this eyesore (and hopefully gives the option of touch back in the NAVI and better outlook sync options). Right now I'm leaning much more towards a Lexus ES which I don't think is terribly stylish but it isn't a buck toothed monstrosity either. All I know is if the guy who approved this wasn't working as a counter agent for another car manufacturer, he better at least have been fired for perpetrating this crime on the Acura fans. I would have been a loyal Acura repeat buyer if they hadn't sabotaged the design of their own vehicle.

I had told some friends I was considering the Acura TL and they all pretty much said - that is one ugly vehicle.

Sorry - I meant to say while my 2001 TL wasn't and isn't stylish in appearance it ISN'T hideous. If I sound angry about the current TL, I'll admit I am. I probably wouldn't have gotten one this weekend despite the fact the NAVI isn't up to snuff on features, despite the fact that the interior cabin is still a little loud and despite the fact they aren't employing any technology to keep the acceleration and performance up while improving the MPG.

When you know all these things are possible, it disappoints me that Acura seems a little slow on the implementation.

Oh I tried, I really tried to like the new grill. I even waited and have seen it in person several times at my Acura dealers but I just can't warm up to it. Its not the actual grill design that bothers me, because I actually like the way it looks on the TSX, its the size I have a problem with. It is ridiculously too big and stands out like a buck tooth on the TL. I actually think its size takes away from people looking at the rest of the TL, which overall isn't too bad. I think all they need to do is just get rid of that fake chrome trapezoid perimeter they have around the grill, make that body color and it would look more proportional to the vehicle, like it does on the TSX and MDX. Just my !!

Its not just the grill that bothers me, I don't like how big the car grew in just one model year. I don't need over 195 inches in length. Way to long now for my taste. I could see maybe bumping its length up to 191-193 inches but more than that just seems excessive and now its a large sedan rather than a mid-size, so I mean come-on

Hopefully, some of these things will be rectified in the next year or two so that when my 08 TL is done I can continue with Acura. I just hope they got rid of the noise/rattle/squeak issues in the 4G that have plagued my 3G.

Yes, the size of the grill is the most offensive. Not proportional or within the lines. You get used to it but it's hard to ever really love it.

As far as size. Get a TSX v6 if the TL is too big. Everything seems to have shifted to the right. A comparable product to the 08 TL would now be a '10 TSX. This fall it will have upgraded tech inside to match the TL. Then it really becomes a great alternative to the TL if its too big for your taste.

Nah, I didn't care for the TSX V6. There is an example of just dumping a much bigger/heavier engine into a already established design. The ride got so ridiculous firm/bumpy in the V6 that I almost threw up. I personally like the TSX I4. I would get a I4 tech TSX if I was getting a TSX. I think your better off getting the V6 in the TL. The TL was meant for the V6. Personally, the TSX is too small for my taste and the TL is too big. That is the really dilemna. You see my 08 TL is 189 inches long, which is just perfect for me. Acura now has nothing that is 187-193 inches long, which is the length I look for in a car. I hope they either enlarge the TSX or shrink the TL a little to get into this length area. I don't care which one they do it too as long as its done. I don't know how long the new TSX wagon is going to be but I wouldn't be caught dead in a station wagon.

The TL's grill is ugly but bought one anyway. I got a good deal and like the car.
