Cool Do 4th gen TL owners ever miss their 3rd gen TL's?

I have a 3rd generation Acura TL. I really love the new one and am considering buying one. But I did have a couple questions for some of the lucky folks out there who already own one...

Is this TL substantially larger than the 3rd gen?
Is there anything you miss from the 3rd gen?

Do you hate anything about the 4th gen in comparison to the 3rd gen?

Please help me decide on my purchase! (I'd help you...)

I love the 2nd and 3rd Gen, but the current is a huge step up. The entire car is more solid in my opinion. I never considered the 4th due to the look, but after test driving.... I now have one. GL

I loved my type s.....and I love the sh even more. I really don't feel like there is that much more room interior wise....but the exterior is definitely bigger. I only noticed it trying to parallel park in Jersey City this past weekend.

The 4G is a better car all around, how much better is questionable. I hated the look of the 4G, but still ended up buying one because its a strong value compared to similiary sized/optioned cars. I only wish they would have gone with a more aggresive version of the 3G with a full glass roof, etc. aka touring car style, instead they went the luxo route.

I think the car looks unique and decent at times, but also odd at certain angles. One thing I do love is the interior. Although touch screen nav is easier to use than dial crap. I understand why they did it, but I don't like it. I love the nav, and the interface dial works fine, but I would rather touch the screen for choices. Its so much quicker.

Do I miss my 3G, YES.

I do miss the previous exterior design.

I'll stay with the 3G TLs if they do equipped a SH-AWD....because the SH is the priority thing to turn me to the 4G TL.
I do believe if the 3G TLs equipped a SH-AWD, this thing would be an amazing ride!!!

I had a 07 TL Type-S, arguably the greatest TL Acura ever made...until the 4th Gen 6MT. It may not be a looker from all angles, but it puts the 3G to shame.... and hey... if the ricers hate it, they must be doing something right.

Amen to that! Not a previous 3G owner mysef, but the 4G does seem more mature in virtually all aspects.

I agree with you. Funny how an inch makes a huge difference though.

Exterior length: 189.3 in (3G) - 195.5 in (4G)
Exterior width: 72.2 in (3G) - 74 in (4G)
Wheelbase: 107.9 in (3G) - 109.3 in (4G)
Front head room: 38.7 in (3G) - 38.4 in (4G)
Front hip room: 55.6 in (3G) - 55.7 in (4G)
Front shoulder room: 58.3 in (3G) - 58.2 in (4G)
Front leg room: 42.8 in (3G) - 42.5 in (4G)
Rear head room: 37.2 in (3G) - 36.7 in (4G)
Rear hip room: 53.8 in (3G) - 54.8 in (4G)
Rear shoulder room: 55.7 in (3G) - 56.2 in (4G)
Rear leg room: 34.9 in (3G) - 36.2 in (4G)
Luggage capacity: 12.5 cu. ft (3G) - 13.1 cu. ft (4G)

Not much change in the driver/front passenger specs, slightly roomier for the back seaters. Plus, 4G has more junk in the trunk (but loses the extra "cargo room" the 3G offers, 13 cu. ft, which is still smaller than the luggage room of the 4G.) I think the 4G seems so much wider because of the wide hips, instead to the tailored slim look. I'm still adjusting to the long body. I scooted up too much the first day, now barely enough to get my butt to fit in a parking spot. I'll get it right one of these days

I hated the 4G when it came out. I hated the 4G 3 months ago. I loved my 2006 RBP A-Spec with Navi. Then I test drove the 4G SH-AWD. Now I have a CBP SH-AWD Tech. I really love the Keyless, all the different sound options, and of course, the SH-AWD. While I still kinda miss my 3G, that disappears when I'm driving my 4G.

I am thrilled with my 09 TL SH-AWD. It a joy to drive. A real looker. Sound system cranks. Love the HDD! Quality of the build is better, I believe.

I dont miss the 3G TL at all.

The 4G TL was not even on my list when I shopped for new cars until I test drove the SH-AWD. The rest is history.

The lineup is shifting...the next RL will be the big sedan flagship supposedly with a V-8, the TL has grown into a beast, a sexy one at that, of a upscale sedan especially in the SH-AWD configuration, and the TSX added a V-6 and given it's size and weight it's got quite a kick. I shopped around for months and test drove many brands, sedans and coupes and drove away in a TL SH-AWD.

The overall size and body style of the 3G is still better in my opinion then the 4G, and the vast majority agree (via reviews, opinions, and sales numbers) but the interior of the 4G is overall a little better then the 3G. Though I think the ergonomics of the center console of the 3G were more intuitve and I liked the touchscreen nav a lot better. I'm still annoyed that Acura got rid of the touch screen completely, same thing with Lexus. I wish they could have done something similar to Nissan/Infiniti were they recessed it in but still kept the touchscreen!

I love the people who are now in Buick LaCrosse's who say the TL is inferior to that car. What a joke that is! They don't have a clue! I'd be in a 4G TL over a new LaCrosse without even taking a millisecond to think about it!

Well... I can give a fair and unbiased comparison

3G was sexy. yes. but they're a dime a dozen now.

4G is sexy too, but in the eye of the beholder. my car is so "different" from everything else on the road... Im happy the 4G has some of the lowest sales #s... makes my car stand out

4G interior is 100% better... i kinda liked the 3G (type-s)seats better, but they wear out alot faster

3G was faster, better MPG and more aerodynamic.... the 4G AWD out handles any 3G

alot of pros and cons.... AWD and USB connectivity is what closed the sale for me

Are you tired of it already? If so and you can afford it without putting yourself in the poor house, get the new car. If not, hold off you're only 19 and have had the car for only 2 years. Plenty of time Eric, plenty of time...

Me personally, I like the 4g on the inside. Only downsides (SH-AWD w/tech) that I have encountered with the car is the beak, artificial steering feel at low speeds (eps), and a 5 speed auto that did not match the performance potential.

Other then that it's an awesome car.
