DIY on remote start for our 4G TL???
Has anyone ever tried to install a remote start on their 4g TL?
I'm trying to buy one and let the professional shop to do it but all the shops around my area are booked until February of 2015.
They said because of Christmas gift, the remote starts are currently hot during the winter.
I couldn't believe i have to wait for 2 months on installation of the remote start.
I wonder if any of our members has tried and successfully complete the installation.

if you are savy with electricals then it is possible as long as you can follow the instructions on the manual.. but if you have zero experience, then i would leave it to the professionals before you fry something

I just installed a remote start on my 2014 TL. Everything was pretty straight forward and the starter harness in plug and play (no splicing). I found the hardest part was removing the drivers side pillar trim when running the antenna wire. You still have to go to the dealer to have them activate the alarm through the diagnostic system. They told me it would only be $115, but ended up charging me $216. I just had mine activated at the dealer two weeks ago so you should be able to get it done before February. Good luck.

I can follow instruction but the only thing that concerns me is how to hook up to the module so the car won't shut off when I open the door. I don't want to burn out the starter faster than it should be..

I found a 2 way with 2 remotes for less than $200 and $80 for the bypass module.
I don't believe that I need the stealership to activate the alarm after the installation.

If it is an aftermarket unit, then you or the installer must be very familiar with the car's internal wiring, because a lot of external wires need to be tapped/spliced into the factory wire looms.

I thought I understood that NO remote starter for the 4G TL with push button start allowed you to open the door without it killing it (takeover). Am I wrong? I'm still looking and haven't narrowed down what I want.

I'm not sure about the push start. My car is still using a key.

I downloaded the internal wiring schematic for the 4G and it didn't look that bad but you're right this is no beginner job.
