DIY, Install Front Chrome Grill and Rear Trim?
For those who have the Dark Chrome Grill and Rear Trim installed, did you do it yourself? Was it hard to do? The instructions say you have to remove both front and rear bumpers to put them in. Is there any possible way to install them w/o removing the bumpers? Thanks

I dont know about the rear but you should not have to for the front. There is a youtube video showing the install of the E&G grill and when taking out the old grill the bumper is not removed. Youtube it.. sorry I dont have the direct link...

I went through the same research you are trying to do...and ended up going with the dealer for a discounted install cost of $150 both front and back. I saw the youtube video as well...they found some way to work aroung it without removing the bumper. I wasn't going to chance it. I paid the dealer $500 total for parts and labor.

Agreed...I have never see mine turn dark. The picture on the Acura website options section is totally misleading and has it almost gray. It actually just looks like normal chrome with a very slight dark tint to it.

I installed both pieces without taking off bumpers. The back is just clips that hold it on..the front is a little more tricky but doable. You have four bolts and 6 pop in clips you know the little black ones on the molding.

welll you can remove the grills without removing the bumper.. but it is not recommended.
the fronts will take you forever to do and you must have small hands to do so. the rear you might chip the paint.
dont mickey mouse the job, just take it apart and do it the right way.

Like an idiot I recently re-installed my front bumper after installing HID fogs (removed it to get grille painted) and I decided to wait to put the grille back on. BIG MISTAKE! I couldn't get the clips installed because there is minimal clearance between the bumper and bumper cover in that area, so I had to remove the bumper again to get the grille on. Of course I didn't realize it until I had re-attached all clips and screws on the bottom and in the wheel wells. PITA!!!
I advise you to take the bumper off and not cut corners. You'll likely just end up costing yourself more time and frustration in the process. Trust me, if I can remove and re-install the front bumper (by myself) you can too.
Unfortunately I have no experience with the rear so I'm not sure how difficult that would be.

^^^agree, in the end, now that almost 3 years have past, I can say that the time you save doing it on the car, is nill...takes just as long fumbling and stumbling with the screws from underneath than it does to just pull the bumper cover off.

Like the members above me said, remove the bumper, during installation leave the 2 innermost clips off, that way you can remove the grill in the future without having to take off the bumper again. The remaining 4 clips can be accessed from under the car.
