Designers

I own a a 2013 acura tl shawd tec pak and when I opened up my driver's door I looked in between the door and the engine when I put my foot out you could see down where the bracket is where the front fender is and all you see is styrofoam the designers that designed the car should have put a piece of metal to cover up that shit.I love the car I just wonder how many designers worked on putting this car together?

yeah 3g TL has that too....never really bothered me though. it'd probably just add to the cost of the car if they designed that to look cleaner

Why would Acura add a hunk of metal in places like this? It would serve no purpose other than to add weight to the car (offsetting that expensive aluminum hood the engineers fitted to the car to save weight on the front of the car).

Its probably soundproofing material, not just styrofoam. Acura calls it "enclosure" and it costs around $8 each.
