Decisions, decisions. Need advice.

I currently have a 2010 TL-shawd automatic. I have been very happy overall, but this is the first car I have owned in decades with an auto, and I miss the stick more than I thought. I am considering ordering a 2013 with a 6 sp manual, but would really like to try it before I buy. No dealer within a days drive of me has one in stock, so I thought I might test drive a TSX or ILX with a manual to see if I like the Acura clutch/shifter. However, I don't know if they are really comparable. Has anyone driven both? If so is it a realistic comparison of clutch and transmission feel? I appreciate all input.

Try to find a used TL with a manual on Cars.com or even Craigslist that someone is selling and go take it for a test drive. I don't think the ILX or TSX would compare very well.

p.s. I think they use different clutches/systems in each car.

this is true for the 3rd gen TL. it uses a hydraulic clutch system that the other models dont have

Love the transmission on the manual. Shifting is crisp and precise.
I test drove both the auto and manual, and liked both cars, but I really like driving a stick, so I waited until I found one.

My 08 honda civic Si had a fantastic clutch and shifter... really enjoyed the soft clutch and direct engagement. I'd expect the TL to have similar awesomeness. I had to go auto as well due to the realities of my commute versus the amount of time i could really enjoy rowing through gears...

Not surprising the mindset of practicality would lead me towards the TL... The paddleshifters are nice though, although when you are in sport mode and activate them i can't figure out how to go back to sport mode automatic without shifting to N, or D and shifting back... Its nice in D mode that you can paddle downshift to merge/pass and if you don't do anything for a few seconds it reverts back to automatic...

It's a whole different driving experience for a 6MT V6 vs. a 6MT I4.

So don't bother trying out the 6MT ILX at all.

No sellers in my area.

I have looked on Craigslist, the local paper, checked all the available used inventory at local dealers, and no luck. I asked the service rep at my acura dealer how many manual transmissions TL's they have sold/serviced in the last two years and he said "one".

eh...3rd gear issue is common, right? I have it in mine (2010 TL) and every time I take it to the dealership, they can't replicate...

Can't seem to find me some ac delco synchromesh...not even on amazon. If I do find some, how much do I need?
