Looking on line at two beautiful Acura TL's. A 2012 SHAWD with tech 32,000 mi., white on white. $28k and change.

2nd auto, 2014 SHAWD with Advanced package, white on white with 17Kmi
Asking $36,895. Any thoughts ? I have a 2008 TLS with 107 K mi.

I would vote the 2014 Advance for the gorgeous 19inch wheels alone. Also almost half the miles as the other one. Negotiate hard on the 2014?

I would save the near 10k. You're getting almost the same vehicle. It's a 6 speed transmission and everything. I've never been the person for buying new (or in this case, almost new) so I can't say but that 10k comes handy in other things... Mods, downpayment, investment... I mean I guess it depends what you consider high mileage and how long you plan on keeping your car for. KM's don't matter to me since I do nearly 30,000+ km a year.

How so? My understanding is nothing was changed from the 2012-2014 model years, it was only a mid cycle refresh in 2012...

Assuming both cars have been maintained and are in good shape, I would opt for the 2012 and save the $$.

Presuming that both are clean condition, non CPO offered by dealers.
Looks like you drive @16,000 a year now so for the extra $9000 you get one more year out of the 2014 in addition to the longer warranty, upgraded to the Advance with 19 inch wheels heated/cooled seats and blind spot options.
Since you currently drive the S seems like the extra bells and whistles may be something that appeals to you. Unless you plan on doing some mods, wheels etc. I would lean towards the 2014.

Easy choice - go with the 14 if you can afford it comfortably - The advance package will always be worth more when you go to trade/sell than the tech

Thanks for all the great feed back, everyone made some great points. I offered a sales person who called last night $34000. Her asked me when I wanted to drive it. My reply was I would come in if they took my offer. I haven't heard back.
The last thing I want to do today is play games with car salesmen, it"s 15 degrees out and the Patriots are on at 4:30. How is the ride and noise level with 19 inch wheels? Thanks again.

If warranty is a concern, you could also buy an extended one and still save a bit of coin over the 14.
Just curious - what dealer? Have you looked private party or non - Acura dealer?

I see you are a Pats fan Go Pats!

Go Pats. Get the car before the game I bought mine CPO. Is the 2014 not a CPO?

Go with the 12 and save on interest paid throughout the term of the loan unless you pay cash for the 14.

Personally, I'd opt for the '12 in that instance. I don't think the Advance package and 15k less miles is worth near $9k difference + whatever you'll pay in interest.

If maintenance history and condition are equal I would try to work the dealer for a better price on the 12.. As of now there is already close to a $10K (including sales tax) savings by going with the 12..

Only you can determine if the additional features of the Advance is worth the $$.. Good luck!!

that's a very tough call.

you could've gotten a brand new 2014 for 2-4k more couple months back. But in this case, i would go for the 2012 because it's basically the same car minus the mileages and little things you probably dont use often. just my 2c

Bill,

I got the '14 AWD-Advance, I think the only main difference with Tech are the 19" rims, ventilated seats and leather stitching.

If I will do it all over again, I will get the Tech because 19" is nice but its very harsh on street roads, h-way they are okay. The reason why I got the advance is the ventilated seats.

Goodluck!

Great pick up! Hope you got them down good. 5 months ago I picked up a spankin new 14 Advance for $39,028. $36K seemed high for used. Difference in the Advance and Tech: Beautiful 19" wheels, Blind Spot Indicators, and Cooled seats. That's it. The 19s were enough to sway me
