Exclamation Dealership Rip Off

I am in Ontario Canada and was at the dealership for oil change and after the inspection I was told the air/cabin filter needed to be replaced and they wanted $272 plus HST (13%) for it, which I passed and was able to get both the filters for $42 taxes in from Parts Source/Canadian Tire.

Wow. I think I would report them. My dealership quoted me $36 for the in cabin filter. I went and bought after market for $16.

rule of thumb. never go to dealer to do repairs unless you absolutely need to... like adjusting timing belt, or transmission repairs.. etc.. things you can do yourself.. its always about 75% cheaper.

Haha, don't pay attention to EasyRider.

By the way, that's just a quote in his signature.

From what I have read, it is really easy to replace the cabin air filter yourself. Just twist and pull the divider in the dash compartment and you will have access to the filter. Save yourself 270 dollars, buy it from amazon for about 260 bucks...

and yeah, as RPhilMan1 said, dont pay attention to Eazy. I think he spent more time being banned from AZ forums than anyone.

Total time needed...about six minutes. Tools...none. Never pay anyone to replace the cabin air filter. Replace it once, you'll see what I mean.

Yes. They are set by Acura, but the price quoted to you is a little under 10x the advertised Acura price. Check Bernardi or Del Rey to see what I mean.

Report it to Acura Corporate or to the GM or owner of the dealership.

On my recent trip to the dealer to get my oil changed (I have them free), I laughed in the service advisor's face when he told me that they would replace my cabin and engine filter for $129.95.

It cost me about $45 to do it myself. Both super simple to replace.

I simply stopped going to the Acura Dealership but I think I should go just to laugh in their face LOL. Good idea dude!

Just got the oil and filter changed yesterday from Midas for $38 taxes in and I got free tire rotation too

Soon because my salesman is finding a '12 BWP 6MT for me. Very hard to find.

I got a great deal on the '12, and I'm looking to replace my '04 TSX this year.
