Dealer Trade-In Value!!!!!!
I currently own a 2009 Palladium/Ebony, TL AWD Tech w/ 19inch wheels (14k miles). I wanted to trade and get a white/black TL as this was my first choice orginally, but settled for the silver.
The dealer offered me 27,500 for mine, this is when I flipped out as the car I wanted that they had was 30,855 with tons more miles and only 18inch wheels not 19s (also a 2009).
Does this seem like a true trade in value or BS!!!!!!!!

You should bring the car to carmax/different dealers for a free appraisal. Carmax usually offer pretty competitive price.
After you get a general idea about the price they offer, then come back for negotiation.

Does not seem too far off. Both Edmunds and KBB price it just below $30k. Local availability, dealer stock, etc. could account for the 5-8% difference between what they offered and "book" value.

I am not sure what state you are in and what the tax laws are there, but here in NJ if you trade in a car and buy another one from the same dealer on the same transaction you only pay sales tax on the difference. So that is another thing you might want to take into account, So sales tax in NJ is 7% so that would save you another $1925 in taxes on the trade in price the dealer gave you for your car. But offcourse it all depends on the laws in your state.

Just be blunt and propose an even swap and you sign if you really have to have that color combo otherwise just keep your car, honestly you're losing money on the deal even with an even trade.

And what they would consider "better" is really just the mark-up and a profit margin attached to it. If $31k is their sticker price, they will probably be willing to part with it for $28k-$29k anyway so I don't see why they wouldn't take an even swap. They stand to make more money on yours as it has less miles and the 19's.
