Crows Feet.. dealer said previous owner repainted
I noticed the hood and rear drivers door upper portion have a bit of gold-ish flake looking imperfections in the paint and have concluded that it is the crows feet issue many of you were talking about. My car is a 2010 CBP, which, from what I have read, the problematic year for this issue.
I brought this up with my dealer and he concluded that the previous owner repainted it. I didn't know what else to say because I didn't have much information about it with me so I told him I will get back to him.
First, how would there be such a coincidence that my 2010 TL, have the exact same symptoms as others here on the forum, same look. If it had been repainted, what are the chances that it would have crows feet like the original paint?I think its slim to none that if it had been repainted, crows feet would arise.
I'm currently bringing my car to few body shops to voice their opinions whether the paint is OEM or not.
Anyone else run into this issue with the dealer? How have you dealt with it?

There is a lawsuit on it for Acura CSX's in Canada. I'm sure if you contact Acura's 1800 number and speak to them, they can definitely point you into the right direction. I'm 99% positive that is OEM paint.

keep it clean
The only scenario I can think of is if the paint was not stripped down to the bare metal when the body shop repainted the car. For example, the shop that repainted my TL showed me a prior TL they had painted 4 yrs earlier, but didn't take the paint down to bare metal. It was starting to show signs of crows feet again, so they were redoing the paint job again, but this time taking it down to bare metal. However, if your TL was repainted under warranty by previous owner, I would think Acura would have a record of it.

I've not read about the discoloration.
Do you believe the gold flake imperfections you saw were from the crows feet or the paint color itself?
I guess what I'm getting at is I don't think crows feet will discolor it and if it's gold is as you mentioned then it may indeed have been repainted with a slightly off color.

Should take a paint measurement reading.
Generally speaking, the clear coat in OEM factory paint is very thin.
However, if the car has been repainted, there is a good chance that the clear coat is relatively thicker. Body shops know they have to sand and buff out imperfections after everything is said and done and will usually lay down a thick layers of clear coat.

rock the block
do they say whether they had already repainted the whole thing, or just certain sections? I know Brock had issues with getting them to do the whole car the first time, and consequently had to send it back for a second time

Thanks for the offer but I'm in San Francisco..
The local Acura dealership here are known to be a pain, per yelp. Makes it even harder to fix my issue.. Will head over to a friends body shop this weekend to use his paint thickness gauge and his opinion..

Not sure if it would help or not but maybe you could print out the threads from AZ where others have mentioned this same problem and show them to the dealership. It will at least show this is a known issue and that others have had theirs corrected at no charge.
Just an idea...

Most people narrow it down to those three cars before buying ... Acura TL, F150, or Dodge Ram.
I showed my Dealer some of these threads and even pictures of cars being stripped down. They said they can't go by this forum because it's just random people writing whatever they want. Either way my car has been in for repaint since the end of May, I'm still driving a loaner. I had my TL back twice for a total of a week. I'm not even sure if I remember what my car looks like. I'm 90% sure I will be getting all of my money back and I will buy a Ford F150 Lariat or Dodge Ram 1500 Lariame.

Well seeing how I have a 2013 SHO and I recently sold my pickup, I'm now considering buying another pickup. The 2014 F150 has more options and better leather than the 2014 TL. Add to that, I also have a 2009 Vette, so my bases are pretty much covered.

Nothing unusual about buying a truck. I just bought a Chevy and sold my RDX. Moved out to the country and you get your ass kicked a the local watering hole if you are not driving a truck (and chewing Skoal).
