Cool video with the 4G in it
Wonder how they got that big AWD TL to do that?? Probably had to pull the e-brake. Pretty cool cinematography though.

...she's hot, the TL that is. Almost got side swiped by a driver shooting into traffic from a parking lot who wasn't paying attention. According to my two passengers she just shot out then realized she was in the middle lane and coming at my passenger door, with misting rain coming down I swerved over to the far left lane, swung a bit wide steered back to the right to keep from hitting the median then a Budlight truck stopped to make a left so I cut back over and another truck was to the right. The damn car gripped and accelerated and when the wheel turn straight the car leveled and took off away from the craziness. I mostly recall a slight wobble and not much more. My passengers were tripping about how the car stayed on the road and came out of it with no damage.

Has anyone else seen this TL video by the same guys? A bit off on the details, but nice footage!

I live at the top of a hill that's all esses all the way down and one of the funnest (yes, funnest) things ever is throwing it into "S" mode and flinging it into the curves on the way down. I was driving a G37 coupe before and I love how the TL hugs the road going down. The G would start flinging her tail out much sooner.

After watching this I just want the winter to go away so I can change to my summer tires and start driving... I bought the car late November and didn't have a chance to see what she can do yet. The 17" rims w/ winter tires aren't very "performance oriented".

Awesome man, I can't believe the TL's time! Or better yet, I can believe it, because I've got the same car and know the capabilities. Hell, yesterday I took an on-ramp that turns a full 90 degrees in the process and had 4 cars all on the inside lane that slowed down to freakin' 25mph and I took the outside lane, tires blazing, SH-AWD compensating and in 2nd gear up to 50mph and passed them all. The rear end slid out just a bit, but at no time did I feel out of control.
If the guy in the video did that through every turn like I think he did (hell, the oversteer section of the clip proves he got it right) then no wonder he won.
Oh, and the TL's exhaust note at 15:15 was nasty! It doesn't even sound like that I thought, but video shows otherwise!

Driving Sports TV Pilot: Evo X MR vs. S4 vs. TL SH-AWD
This 24-minute program became available yesterday. They drove three 2011 cars. The TL had the 19" wheels and the six-speed manual transmission. The other two cars had twin-clutch manumatic transmissions. The results are surprising. You can watch the program on Youtube. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3wqAPwUt-E

lol, the only thing i liked about it, was seeing the TL's ass kick out a lil. which i thought looked great.
im also impressed that the TL was that much faster.. but then.. hard to tell with obviously mediocre drivers....
i also like how he starts off with how the TL is like "bringing a knife to a gun fight"... but then the TL outperforms the other two.......

I kinda enjoyed the production of it, but the whole time I kept thinking to myself "How the hell did these people manage to get loaned these production cars to do all of this to?" Is it because they had their own helicopter to do the filming of some of road course?
Then I kept thinking what a mismatch these cars were (in terms of segments they compete against and prices, etc). Not that I'm saying they should've stuck with the traditional TL/G-series/A4/BMW3xi, etc, but it didn't make much sense.

Thanks for watching. We've been producing auto reviews for 5 years and are approved to receive cars from most makers. In this case, we started with the idea to do a review with the Evo X for our TV pilot. We wanted to do that versus the S4 (being that they both have dual-clutch systems) with a 335xi as car #3. However, BMW didn't have the right configuration in the press fleet so we went with the Acura TL as car #3 (since it has a similar performance-oriented AWD system).
Though you may not connect with all the hosts, there is a portion of the demographic that does. Jessie is very well liked by non car enthusiasts. They can relate to her. That said, she's been bugging me to send her to an advanced driving school so when we go to series, I'm guessing it wont be long before she's driving faster.
Personally, I've raced some wheel-to-wheel, done some time attack events and have thousands upon thousands of laps at HPDE events. That, in addition to advanced personal instruction. Keep in mind that the "speed runs" shown in the video are a composite of stunt and speed driving. It's meant to be more entertainment than it is a guide to driving fast.

You guys did get some of the facts wrong though. The TL has been available with a 6-speed since the 2004 model. Additionally, the TL tested has been available since 2008, as a 2009 model, not 2010.

I think you guys did a great job. Of course the cars don't really compete head-on with one another, but you guys did a nice job of showing how capable the TL is against cars that most enthusiasts already know are very capable. Thanks!
