confused

i'm slightly confused why people dont think that the Maxima is a competitor with the TL?

other than it not being nissan's premium brand, both cars are FWD, and considered "midsized cars" with similar dimensions. not that i like the maxima over the TL, b/c i dont. i had an 04TL and now i have an 07 TL-S.... i dont think you can compare the G35 to TL....

technically, the G35 is considered a "compact car" which i dont understand, but that's it's rating.... it's RWD or AWD.... the only thing that would make it "comparable" is that they are the premium brands... but i think they really arent an equal match.

however, i will say that there are people that shop and compare all 3.

i have both the 07 TL-S and the 08 G35xS I love to drive both of them, but both are like 2 totally different cars. sadly, the G is a LOT faster than the TL right off the line... mainly b/c of the traction issues that the TL has. you can STOMP on the G35xS and it takes off... while the TL is smokin the tires lol
but the TL-S does catch up once the tires are done slippin... heh heh heh

just my 2cents

the Nissan division is considered an economy brand, just like HONDA, infiniti and acura are considered the luxury devisions. For example, the designs of the interior and exterior are better on infinities and acura's then their counterparts. As well the materials are superior.

As for the comparision, the G35 isn't a compact.... it's a 4 door sedan with dimensions close to the TL and power close to the TL. Also yes, the TL may feel faster off the line, but it's faster around willow springs race track by 2 seconds... Also you have to remember, g35 is DOHC, not SOHC, like what honda uses. That right there is about a 20 HP gain.

I'm confused as to why this couldn't be discussed in the other "maxima v. TL" thread...

This section of the forum is devoted to the 4GTL. All car comparisons belong in Car Talk in the Off Topic section of the community. Thanks.
