Complete vehicle history
I recently acquired a 2012 TL w/Technology Package and I would like to know how to acquire a complete vehicle history from Acura based on the VIN. My local dealer service dept. can only tell me what they have done on the car. There have been three previous owners but I don't know where they had it serviced.

The inconvenient truth
The Acura dealership should be able to give you a general print out of all work done at any acura dealership. Mine came from Quebec and the local Acura dealership in Ontario gave me that print out with date, milage and in very general terms what was done each time it went to an Acura dealership. They also helped me find the exact dealership on Quebec so that I could get more detailed records from them.

Burning Brakes
Carfax has access to many dealer databases. When I purchased my TSX last year the Carfax report had info from the Acura dealer where the original owner had it serviced.

Carfax is your best bet, but it's not great.
Most maintenance stuff (like oil changes and tire rotations) aren't reported to Carfax unless it's by a dealer. You also will never know if somebody did their own work. A lot of minor fender benders get repaired quietly too, without letting Carfax or insurance companies know about anything that would lower the car's resale value.
If the car seems alright, and passed a presale inspection by a mechanic you trust, then it's probably fine. All you can ever really do is start treating it right going forward and hope for the best.
Enjoy the new ride. I've got a '12 base model and it's my baby.

Null and proud of it
More than likely, you can trust your gut. I know it sounds weird, but I've never had a pre purchase inspection done bofore. Usually, things are wrong. If it's something major, usually even a novice car enthusiast would notice.
Now getting an inspection is still a better idea.
Usually, if my cars have issues I don't want to deal with I dump them and get my money back.
