Exclamation Compass blinks

For the past couple months I have notice that my compass blinks and it shows that is in calibrating.. Is there something I can do stop it from calibrating some much..How do reset it to keep it from re calibrating frequently. 2013 Acura TL Base model. Any assistance is greatly appreciative..

Why would you not want a compass to recalibrate?

If the battery is going bad it can cause all sorts of odd issues like yours. Have it checked out!

I would also like to know how to correct the flashing compass on my 2012 TL base with 106K miles. Interstate battery is less than 2 years old. I feel like some days it is always flashing, other days it's fine. Should I drive in circles in a parking lot?

Thankfully, I don't focus on it but it would be nice to solve!

Any suggestions?

Update on blinking compass! Today I took the logical route, and consulted with my TL's owners manual. There is a process you can follow to attempt to correct the blinking compass by running a calibration process. I was able to reset it and get a steady compass indicator, but the next time I started the car, the compass once again was blinking. I checked the zone as well, and it indicated 8. I live in zone 11. I once again did the compass calibration and drove around for a bit. Compass seemed to be working well as I am aware of the directions I was traveling in. Once I restarted the car, the compass was once again blinking. I also rechecked the zone, and it was once again indicating 8, not the 11 that I just corrected it to.

Needless to say, something is definitely wonky. I was thinking of removing the negative battery terminal for a bit and re-entering the radio code and start over on the compass calibration/zone correction. Wondering if anyone else experienced a similar situation?

Thanks!

How old is the car battery? If it's running low on charge, it can starve electronics of power during startup and cause all sorts of issues.

Interstate battery is only about 18 months old, and the reman Denso alternator is about 14 months. Oddly enough, today the compass quit flashing and stayed steady until the next start....started flashing again. Thankfully, I don't focus on it, and everything else on board works great. At 12 years old and 106K miles, she is in great shape and still a pleasure to drive. I'm sure my next car (5 years maybe) will not even come close to the build quality of this machine.

Thanks for the reply, I'll keep an eye on the battery!

This cracks me up. My gf's FJ cruiser has been doing the same thing for over 5 years now.

Came here looking for an answer for my blinking compass
just got a brand new battery so I know it’s not that and checked my alternator to make sure that’s good which is oem & only 3 years old and I also live in zone 11 but it goes back to zone 8 every time I restart my car
which is weird
sometimes after couple minutes of driving it’ll stop blinking other times it’ll blink for an hour 🤷‍♂️
