Coming Up On Two Years Not So Much As A Rattle
Over the years I've owned a BMW, a M-B, two Volvos and three Lexus'. None have been as problem-free as my FWD TL. I've been back to the dealership for two oil changes in the close to two years I've owned this car. Everything works exactly as designed right from the moment I picked it up in March '09. Even the Lexus' had to have one or two things tweaked or adjusted after I got them. No so the TL.
Acura should be very very proud of its workmanship. And for those who put down or question American workmanship, I think it's worth remembering that this car in manufactured 100% in the U.S.

Great to hear! This really goes to show that you can make quality cars in America. And I don't believe they are unionized down in Ohio, so I'm sure that helps when they can get rid of people who are not keeping to the high standards. Would love to know if that is the case or not.
Or maybe it's the design and engineering and less about the manufacturing?

In the same exact boat; '09/TL/Tech/WDP/Taupe
Since March '09, the only 2 issues I've had, are the sunroof rattle/squeak/whatever, that seems to be in my last 4 Acura's. Wish Honda would do something; but a minor nuisance; the other annoyance is the Acuralink connection with my BB9700 Bold. The site says it's fully compatible, but of course, it's not.BTW: I have a FULL data package, as required.Acura C.S./Corporate, the dealership techs, Blackberry, & TMobile are ALL clueless. One blames the other, etc.
Anyway, LOVE my TL; best, & least problematic vehicle I've owned in 40 years. Favorite feature is the ELS/Navigation/Bluetooth;(phone & audio), & of course DVD/A, & IPod integration.

I wish I could say the same! This car has been much different than my 07 TL-S, which only had 1 dash rattle when cold.
But my dealer has been very responsive in trying to fix the problems. So now that I have the car, that's pretty much all I can ask for!

That's very encouraging, especially considering the roads you're probably subjecting the car to in NYC.
The sunroof rattle, if its the same as the one in my Civic Si, is due to wax, and other debris causing friction. I have heard that even car wash which contains wax will cause the issue. Cleaning and lubing the seal gets rid of the issue.

I've had the exact opposite experience. Acura ended up buying back my first '09 TL and the '10 replacement vehicle has an annoying sunroof track / roof rattle that they haven't been able to fix yet.
I love the technology, performance, and look of the car, but its a POS in terms of fit and finish. My '97 3.0 CL was quieter when I sold it after 13 years than my TLs have been. Very dissapointed.

The responses here seem like many of the responses over in the 3G forums. You'll have a lot of 3G people say they don't hear rattles or maybe have 1 or 2 that were fixed while others have a rattlefest. I named my 3G the U2 "Rattle & Hum" edition because it was rattling. But I've grown used to the little rattles here and there and am happy the car's been as reliable as it has been. One thing I hope Honda/Acura never skimps on is the reliability I've experienced.

12,000 mile so far on the 2010 and no problems or rattles, although the rear shocks are a little clunky over certain bumps.
My 06 that was stolen had almost 70,000 miles and was never back to the dealer. Only maintenance were oil changes and transmission fluid. The front brake pads at 65,000 still had half the pad left! Lot's of highway miles.

Issue free for almost a year now. I think I had the sunroof rattle come and go while driving for a few days over the summer but since then the noise has gone away on it's own. The 3G's I had were far worse and the 3G sections were full of rattle issues when the car was new. I know the sample size is off but I think Acura has made a huge improvement in this regard with the TL, at least in my experiences. When it comes to rattles, it's still very stange to me how some can have so many and other none, regardless of the car or brand.

for temps above 60F.. no rattles, but below 60 F, I get a dash rattle, passenger seat rattle, and 1 more i can't pinpoint somewhere in the dash. I realize now though it's probably more trouble than it's worth. They don't build them like they used to.

Now if they could just do something to make the ride a bit more pleasant......
