Clear Bra Quotes on 4G TL
I am getting a clear bra (paint protection film) soon and wanted to know what prices you have paid or been quoted. Here is the coverage I want:
front bumper
hood (22" up the hood)
fenders
side mirros
headlights
fog lights
I was quoted $880 for 3M film with a 5-yr warranty on parts. To me, that seems pretty high. The same installer did my 2008 BMW M3 coupe two years ago with the exact same coverage areas (minus no fog lights on a M3) for $600. He said that the TL costs more money to do because it is a much bigger car, requiring more film. Even then, I think $880 is too much....it seems like for all my coverage areas, $700 seems fair. It's a pitty, because he's a very good installer (he is the current installer for the Cadilliac and Ferrari dealerships).

That seems way too much. I got quoted $600 and I had the choice of either 3M or VentureShield. I got the number from my body shop. He does many installations for Audi, BMW and Benz. Im planning on getting it done in spring.

what about the a-pillars, and the roof at the front edge, for better front edge protection
also i would do the head lights before the fogs, and the reason being is because the fogs are a physically smaller housing, they can "burn" the film actually and turn it brown
also i got a couple od additional spots you should put it also, for maximum protection
rockerpanels-getting in and out of the car, can wear the paint there
door edges-on the rear edge- so it does not chip
behind the door handles-those finger nail scratches are a bitch
below the fuel filler door-drips anyone?
rear bumper at the trunk-putting anything in the trunk?
i can probably think of more if you like too
but yes $280 additional seems kinda high for the the bigger car, and fog lights too, but i don't install it though, so idk

I had PPF installed my TL in December. After many hours of research I decided to go with Avery Dennison's NanoFusion PPF which has a lifetime warranty. I paid $1000 and the coverage I have is the front bumper; entire grill; 1/2 hood; mirrors; inside door handles and the lower sections directly after the front wheels and before the rear wheels. Likely going to get my lights colored during the warmer weather.

Waiting period after paint job?
My car is currently in the shop right now. I’m having my beak, rear trim, and both side trims by the rear window painted. How long should I wait to install a clear bra? I got a quote for an Avery Nano-Fusion B-Kit (typical front protection) for $585 from Star Shield Armor.

I had same coverage as you except for the hood, and paid 400$ with 5 yr warranty, to include fog lights covered. My fogs and headlights are still covered and no burning. I had the ventureshield brand installed.

I recommend you stop following gravel trucks.

I had the 3M applied to the front painted beak, the bumper cover and the 2 pcs just above the headlights for $350.
I did the headlights and the fogs myself with kits I bought from LaminX.
I did not do the hood because I hate when you can see the line running through the middle of the hood, although you could get the whole hood done.
I think you can go overboard on the film. It really depends on the color of the car as it does give the filmed areas a different color tint like the WDP color. I don't think it's as big a deal on dark colored cars.

it's not so much following gravel trucks, it's driving during the winter (even a good part into the summer too, till the roads actually get cleaned) with the amount of sand/gravel they put down on the road at times,
or even when they tear the road up (when they groove it) and it takes a couple of months for them to even start to pave it
so TYVM, it's also road conditions, and not following too closely
