The winter here in Chicago so far has been brutal to my front end....my clear bra has taken a beating....about a dozen nicks and scratches on it so far. (better than on my paint, but I think I may have to replace the front part of the bra next year).

I think the 3G needed the clear bra more so than the 4G - the 3's hood was so low - it seemed as if it was down there in all the flying junk on the highway

well my insurance covered that - because of an incident involving a fender bender.
- but its not glued on or anything - just a film that is put on w/ some I believe water underneath - that is pushed out - the paint was fine under it - just that the bra had done its job after a few years - eating road trash / stones
the skill of the installer has a lot to do w/ it - my 2nd installation was much better than the 1st - it you watch it being installed the guy almost stretches the film over each section of the car. - there is some art involved - esp when you move from a easier - say pick up front hood - to a complicated shape like the front of a 3G.

Probably going to purch the 09 TL TECH white in Feb and was thinking about the clear bra. What are the pros and cons. Mostly need to know the cons. Obviousley it will be an area that can not me waxed and not sure if that is a good or bad thing. Plus, I am thinking about getting the nose painted as well and know that will take a beating

+1 for xpel...it is in my opinion nicer than 3m, not as visible, and fits/protects just as well.

Leave it to a pro. You will waste so much time for a marginal result. Working with such a large sheet of film over a large curved surface is no cakewalk.
Just make sure you get the underpart properly polished (+1 if your local GOOD detailer can also install it). You don't want to seal your dealer's prep mistakes in.

There really isn't any cons.....as far as waxing, it is recommended that you do wax areas that have the clear bra.....you maintain it as if it were painted. I had my last 4 cars clear bra'd.....definately worth every pennny......it saves your front end from looking like crap after a couple years. (even more recommended if you do a lot of highway driving).

That's way overpriced....I had my entire front end done, including half the hood, front fenders, headlights and mirrors for $450. Not only that, the installer came to my house to do the installation. Talk about service!

I just bought my wife a 2009 Honda Pilot Touring 4X4 for Christmas and had my Acura dealer install the clear bra. Since the Pilot is black on black, the clear bra was a MUST! (especially in Chicago). The original quote for the entire front end, hood, lights, mirrors, rocker panels, and rear end was $1295, I talked him down to $780. Keep in mind most of the cost is in the labor. So talk to your dealer.

clear bra has an adheasive like window tint, they use the water to move the bra around until they have it exactly where they want it then squeeze out the water and the rest evaporates the same with window tint...
now for the pros and cons of clear bra, and before i sound negative on it, i will never buy another car without it....
too many pros to list...
the only con i can really come up with is that it takes a beating instead of your paint, so if you replace it , it will cost about as much as having your frontend repainted....so its almost a wash...
