Cleaning Weathertech mats tip

My Weathertech FloorLiner digital fit mats were starting to look a little worn so I went online to see how to clean them.
First vacuum the sand and loose stuff off the mats. Then, spray the mats with foaming window cleaner, let it sit on there for like 20 seconds and then wipe off, the mats look like new again. (Got this tip from a Tundra owners website.)

No not Windex brand, the one I have is Simoniz Foaming Glass Cleaner, but I think that most foaming glass cleaners would work.

Does this cleaning technique leave any residue?

What finish does it leave behind (glossy, matt, etc.)?

Does it make the floor liners more slippery than they already are?

I used some foaming carpet cleaner (couldn't find the Windex foaming cleaner at walmart) and it did a decent job. As an added bonus, I got to clean the rear carpet hump that was looking dirty. I used a little Maguires 'Back To Black' on the mats afterwards and they look new-like again.

Great idea. Thanks Prof!
Wish I had seen this earlier today as I just cleaned the WT matt's and used the foam on the windows. Will use this technique on the truck tomorrow.

i use the same stuff, but combine it with an old dish brush just to get all the gunk out of the ridges of my OEM winter mats. give it a shot!

thanks for sharing!

I love to mostly use my power washer (1700 psi). They're amazingly durable. Pour some of the remaining soap onto it, and power off. Very quick work.

The pressure washer would be good, the thing I liked about the foaming cleaner is that you can leave the mats in the car when you clean them.

There wasn't really any residue as i used an old towel to wipe off the cleaner. The finish was shiny, it makes them look new again (however mine are only a few months old, so they're not really worn looking, they were just getting dirty). The nice thing is that they didn't seem slippery.
