LOL. How sad. That GS belongs to someone living on his street. He took that picture with his moms cell phone while he was walking home from school. You can even tell that it was taken from the sidewalk. lol. Didn't even have the balls to go on the driveway and get a direct shot.

Ok, I dont understand how Petestl is basically a hero here for trading in his Fwd car for a Awd TL after a couple months.
Then CJ trades in his SH-AWD for a Lexus GS350 AWD and he is somehow a fool . First of all many people and automotive experts would consider the Lexus an upgrade into true luxury over the Acura and even more the GS is in a totally different category compared to the TL.
GS350 AWD = 5series, E-Class, A6, RL
Anyway, congrats CJ as i am sure you will enjoy a true upgrade to your TL and it sounds like you got an awesome deal.

So what does Acura's future have to do with a car you already owned and presumably liked Their possible lack of a 'Teir 1' future or V8 somehow made your brand new 09 TL a POS.

I'm going to presume you liked the 09 TL when you bought it, only a few months ago? Or you wouldn't have bought it in the first place

Acura's resale values have been tanking as of late and I think it can be attributed to the lack of direction and product. I know cars aren't investments from the standpoint of you make no money, but I don't want to lose all the money that I invested in a car. I normally keep my cars for 5 years so I want something from a brand I know will hold it's value well. At this point we don't even know if the Acura brand will be around after this recession. Some reports are saying the auto industry may not recover until 2015. Don't worry I'm no SSFTSX, but the fact that Lexus is a global brand that sells hundreds of thousands of cars around the world makes me feel more confident in their future. I don't know maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way. I know I just sunk tons more money into such a quick trade, but I feel that I made the right long term decision.

The one picture you posted on TOV was of a GS on a driveway taken from the sidewalk with a cell-phone cam. I'm not asking you to post a ton of pictures, I'm just asking for one believable one. Nothings ever happened to other people who have posted pictures of their cars, you're not the exception.
I also hate to burst your bubble but Acura resale value is higher than Lexus. The 2009 TL has an ALG residual value rating of 57% after 36 months and 40% after 60 months. For comparison, the GS is 42% and 29%. For someone who traded in one car for another because of resale value, makes me wonder...
Acura not surviving the recession is laughable. Currently, Acura is selling in numbers that brands like Audi and Infiniti sold when the economy was booming. If financially-broke Volvo and Saab are still around, your desire for Acura to fail is very far fetched.
I call B.S. on your entire story.

There is practically no difference between 2004 GS and 2004 TL price. so i dont know from where 29% and 40% comes.
The only rational explaination is that previous TL was very cheap car. Now TL price has moved up into $40K bucket. So depreciation will be steep. The higher the value of car the more depreciation. You simply cannt sell Acura at Lexus price and expect same depreciation.

Please folks, don't feed the troll. Every response he makes is about Audi.
Audi cars are 1.5 to 2 times expensive than Acura. They are still very profitable. Same is case with Lexus. ALG Residual values are clearly wrong.

Again, YOU are the one that said this and agreed with me. If you have anything to say against it, you'll just be arguing with yourself and thats a battle that will go till the death.

I had an audi s4 for 5 years and loved the way it drove, but it was always in the shop. i hope the my tl fairs better. I also had a lexus is350 for two years and it was probably my favorite car before i got the TL, except i got stuck like 3-4 times in the snow even with snow tires. I think if cj wanted to get a lexus gs, then thats his perogative, get a car u like, not one u can live with. The gs is a nice car and i considered gatting that as well, until i test drove the awd TL, then it was all over with.

Thank you for proving my point. You finally agree with me. You said that there is no difference in price between a 2004 TL and 2004 GS. The MSRP on a 2004 Lexus GS was $38,875 -$ 47,975. The MSRP on the 2004 TL was $33,325-$35,525. You are clearly pointing out that the more expensive Lexus is now worth as much as the cheaper Acura, which means that the Acura has a higher residual value. So you are agreeing with what I said. Thank you for providing us such a wonderful example and finally coming to your senses.

You Clearly cannot see the difference between true luxury car and near luxury car prices. what do u think about Toyot Camry/Accord?

TL price has increased. and its shape is not some thing popular. U cannot see even a single one in SF bayarea. Its depreciation hit will be far larger than 3G TL.

Again, thank you for agreeing with me. Thank you for proving my point that the Acura TL has a better residual value than the Lexus GS. I'm glad we could work this one out.

I hardly consider Acura or Lexus to be luxury brands. They may call them that to make the people that own them feel like they have arrived. Upscale? yes. Luxury? no. Look to Bentley, Rolls, Maybach, etc... to start seeing luxury. That's when you start getting into the class of a vehicle that is actually customizeable. Wander into a Maybach dealer and see what the difference is between them and precious Lexus.
BTW Lexus' cars drive like absolute poop. They need to learn how to make a steering rack and chassis that does something other than plow into turns with huge amounts of understeer.
See, I can troll too.
