Hi,

I was in an accident and after getting my car back from the shop I can't paddle into first anymore. It just blinks and stays in second. I'm either losing my mind or they changed something. It doesn't matter what speed I'm going, it still won't downshift. I remember being able to shift back into first even when I was going 40kph.

Have I imagined the previous ability or did they do something to the computer?

My 2013 won't switch into 1st either no matter the speed, it only goes to 1st when I am at a complete stop. I think it's normal operation to keep the trans from overheating in 1st gear.

So either you were imagining it, or it was broken before and they fixed it lol. 2009-2011 models with the 5-spd auto don't have that feature, according to the 2010 manual.

owners of 12+ cant hold first gear like the owners of 09-11.. i can hold first gear all day but we dont get as good mpg as the 6speed AT

Also, you can get it to down shift to first from second without stopping if you apply some throttle. It takes a little practice.
