Smile Buying new 2012 TL Auto SH-AWD Advance $38,895 need advice on Accessories

Friends,

I am buying a 2012 TL Auto SH-AWD Advance this week/weekend. The dealer is offering it for $38,795 after all discounts. I am hung up on $38,295. Basically a $500 difference; hopefully we will come to an agreement.

Anyways, I need your advice on which are a must have accessories on the TL that i should buy from Dealer with Car, and which ones I can install on my own. I am fairly handy- install my own brakes/rotors/spark plugs/Spoiler/Tow Hitch/ etc.

The ones I was thinking was:
FRONT AND REAR SPLASH GUARDS
TRUNK TRAY
CARGO HOOK
CARGO NET
BODY SIDE MOLDING
ALL-SEASON FLOOR MATS
DOOR EDGE GUARDS
WHEEL LOCKS

The dealer wants an additional $1700 for these items installed.
Please advice.

For those who are still shopping for a new one, discounts available on 2012 TL's till Sept 4th 2012 (all these are to be subtracted from invoice price) include:
$2500 - CashBack
$1500 Conquest
$750 Military - not applicable to me
$1000 prior owner loyalty

Hmmm so these guys still have cashback huh? Now all I gotta do is talk my sales person into going lower. Thanks for letting us know.

And congratz on the purchase.

Sorry to hijack this thread but how did you go along about getting the dealer to pass on the cashback incentive?

I would opt for the appearance package and add the other stuff later. Changes the whole look of the car IMO

I dont know how they are passing it off. There must be some other hidden $$ than what I know.

Good Luck !

I think only the TSX has the "appearance package" as sold directly by Acura; which essentially is the front -under body spoiler and other body side skirts etc. Those would be about $2000+ installed.

These I could get aftermarket and installed much cheaper.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes, the $38,795 is before TTL, but includes destination.

I am not a fan of splash guards since they take away from the lines of the car but if you are looking for the protection against splash then I say go ahead. Trunk tray and floor mats are definitely nice to have. Controls the mess and easy to clean. Also not a fan of the body side molding or door edge guards for the same reason as the splash guards. Wheel locks are not a bad choice, either.

Good luck. You got a great deal on the Advance, that's for sure.

OP, that is a smoking price, esp for an advance. I swear it must be my neck of the woods, stealerships here don't move much away from MSRP...

Thanks everyone for your input on accessories. You guys really saved me hundreds.

So the final price I am paying is $38,500 which includes destination and the only 2 accessories that I am getting are wheel locks and a Window Tint (est $300 at dealer).

Drive out price is $41,200.

Good luck to those who are looking. The SH-AWD is an awesome car, which ever trim you get it in. Mine is an Advance with white exterior and Ebony interior.

Message me if you want specific dealer prices in the Houston area.

That's a great price for the advance model, You can always add the other accessories later for maybe less $.
At first I thought you lived in MN - because of your user name.....

I lived in Minnesota for 8 years then 4 years in Michigan and moved to Houston,TX only last month.

My 2002 Tl-Type S with 204,000 miles that I just put up for sale has been through many mid-west blizzards and has seen a few 360 degree turns in the middle of the freeway, been in some ditches only to come out unscathed

I am signing the paperwork tonight, may not get the car for 1-2 days till its cleaned the tint sets in. They are towing the car from one dealership to another. I specifically asked them not to add additional miles by driving it in the city while doing the dealer swap.

Wow, that's cheaper than I paid for my 2012 non-SHAWD Advance last year (july 2011). But to my defense, i didn't have any discounts, and I waited for mine to be fresh off the truck.

Congrats!

Thanks !

Mine is not that fresh, its got 54 miles on it. This is my very first "new" car though. I have had many cars before, but always bought used. My current TL-S was 1.5 yrs used. This one is a gift to myself for completing an MBA from U of Michigan and excelling at my startup venture.

Cheers!

That is an awesome price for the car. I paid $40,000 before taxes for my 2010 SH-AWD with the Tech Package & 18" wheels. Good job.

I finally bought the NEW 2012 TL Auto SH-AWD Advance from SterlingMcCallAcura. Paid $38,500 that included $500 worth of accessories installed. (Splash guards, Trunk tray, wheel locks, cargo hook, cargo net). Drive out price was $41200 with 0.9% Honda financing.

Good luck everyone, there are such fantastic deals out there on 2012's.

I basically paid about $4700 below invoice. I was originally going to get a SH-AWD Tech, but decided to go all out as its my first new car.

I will take delivery on Friday evening as they are putting the accessories on. I did take a few pictures while I was there to sign the papers. Will upload them shortly.

Cheers !

Cheers !

How do you like your 6MT ?

I thought about the 6MT, but could not find one around to test drive. Besides wife would had been unhappy if she would had ever needed to drive mine. She is currently happy with her TSX

The 6MT is great. Funny thing is my wife prefers a suv with a stick. Choices are very limited, ...She drives a saturn vue - lol. She says she likes it
